Vampire Survivors’ Next Update Will Change Everything – Fans Can’t Wait!

Summary

  • The developer of Vampire Survivors claims that the upcoming April 2025 free update will be the largest to date.
  • Cross-save functionality will be added alongside the April patch for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and mobile devices, with Switch support coming later.

According to developer Luca “Poncle” Galante, the upcoming update for “Vampire Survivors” might just be its largest free expansion yet. The roguelike shoot-’em-up has been a sensation since it debuted in 2022, so fans of “Vampire Survivors” should stay tuned for fresh content arriving in 2025.

Initially launched as an early access game for PC in 2021, the indie hit “Vampire Survivors” has experienced remarkable growth since then, expanding to all major platforms and mobile devices. The game offers an engaging and straightforward gameplay mechanism, where players aim to survive for as long as possible while battling waves of enemies and enhancing their skills and weapons progressively. Known as “Vampire Survivors,” this game has seen numerous updates over the years, both minor and major. However, according to its developer, the upcoming patch will bring more free content all at once than any previous update has.

In a recent Steam post, game developer Poncle offered a sneak peek at what’s in store for the game Vampire Survivors in 2025, with a significant update expected in April. The Ode to Castlevania patch, the largest expansion yet for this indie title, was released in October 2024. Although it delayed some content planned for 2025, Poncle assures players that the upcoming update will be worth the wait. “This free update will be available on all platforms next month,” the developer wrote. “It’s likely our largest free update to date, so keep an eye out for more details very soon!” Furthermore, it was announced that cross-save functionality for Vampire Survivors will be implemented alongside the April patch for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and mobile devices. Regrettably, Nintendo Switch users must wait for a future fix.

Vampire Survivors Version 1.3 May Be the Largest Free Update to Date

2021 saw the Ode to Castlevania DLC for Vampire Survivors attract a multitude of newcomers to its fast-paced indie gameplay, enriched by iconic characters and tunes from Konami’s venerable series. The expansion also added about 10 more hours of content, a fresh map, and forty new weapon options; Neil Newbon (known as Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3) provided the voice for Dracula. Whether Vampire Survivors will feature further crossovers is yet to be determined, but fans are certainly hoping for more collaborations.

By January 2025, news broke that a live-action version of Vampire Survivors was being developed, even though it doesn’t have much of a narrative to draw from. The project is underway at Story Kitchen, a studio renowned for turning video games into TV and movie productions, including the Sonic the Hedgehog films and the upcoming adaptation of It Takes Two.
