Summary
- Vision Quest spinoff will see return of villain Raza from Iron Man, played by Faran Tahir.
- Plot may involve Vision regaining memories post-Avengers: Infinity War.
- Dead villains, like Ultron, are expected to return in the Disney+ series with Paul Bettany.
In the upcoming Disney+ series titled “Vision Quest,” fans can expect an unexpected revival of a villain they believed was permanently gone. At this moment, details about “Vision Quest” are scarce, such as its storyline. However, it’s been confirmed that one antagonist will make an appearance in the show at some point.
From what we understand, Vision Quest is a storyline that occurs following the end of the WandaVision series. In this show, there was a revived white version of Vision who engaged in combat with an original version summoned as part of a plan to release Westview from the powerful hold of the Scarlet Witch. It’s speculated that one aspect of Vision Quest’s plot will involve the synthetic being attempting to recover his lost memories, which he lost during Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War.
Old Iron Man Villain Returns For Vision Quest
As a devoted film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that according to Deadline, one potential adversary for Vision in the upcoming series could be none other than the infamous terrorist and villain, Raza. It appears Faran Tahir is reprising his iconic role from the very first movie, a character he brought to life so memorably. Last we saw Raza was in Iron Man, where he led the sect that held Tony Stark captive, ultimately compelling him to devise a means of survival and eventually craft the Iron Man armor.
Tahir is a multitalented individual, excelling as an actor, producer, writer, and director. He boasts numerous accolades within the science fiction genre, with films such as “Iron Man,” “Star Trek,” and “Elysium” among them. His movie repertoire is vast, but he’s also graced many television screens, appearing on shows like “The Old Man,” Syfy’s “12 Monkeys,” ABC’s “Scandal,” Fox’s “Prison Break,” The CW’s “Supergirl,” CBS’ “Criminal Minds,” ABC’s “Elementary,” and even sharing screen time with James Spader on “The Blacklist.
Regarding Spader’s character in “Vision Quest”, there isn’t much information about his role yet. However, it seems that deceased antagonists may play a significant part in some way. It was earlier announced that Spader’s Ultron would reappear in this Disney+ series, but the specifics of how or in what capacity remain unclear.
For instance, recall Raza, who was killed by Obadiah Stane in the original “Iron Man”. However, it was a plot by Stane that led the 10 Rings under Raza’s command to attack Stark, even though they were meant to kill Tony Stark rather than capturing him. Had they followed instructions, Iron Man as we know him would not have come into existence. So, in essence, deceased villains might return or reappear in unusual ways or contexts.
Initially, it was planned that Raza and his associates would assassinate Tony instead of capturing him. Had they followed through with this plan, the world would have never known Iron Man.
Over the course of its development, the “Vision Quest” project at Disney+ has experienced both highs and lows, having been in production since 2022 and officially greenlit as a series in May. Paul Bettany will reprise his role as the lead character in this upcoming show, though an exact release date has yet to be announced. It is anticipated that the series will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2026.
