ARC Raiders is designed as a game that will be continuously updated and played for a long time, and part of that is its Expedition system. Every 8 weeks, players can choose to reset their progress – wiping their current character but gaining benefits like bonus skill points, faster leveling, more resources, improved weapon repairs, extra storage space, and exclusive cosmetic items. It’s similar to the Prestige system in Call of Duty. While some players might not like losing their progress, the rewards make it worthwhile for others.
Though ARC Raiders was released just a month ago, many players have already achieved the difficult goal of sending their Raider on the first Expedition. The only downside is that the game won’t reset until December 21, 2025, leaving some players with little to do in the meantime. It seems like there’s not much point in continuing to play after launching an Expedition, as almost all current and future progress will be lost with the wipe. However, there are still several enjoyable activities players can pursue before December 21 to make the wait worthwhile.
What ARC Raiders Players Can Do Until the First Expedition Wipe
- Focus on ranking up in Trials
- Complete the Raider Deck
- Ensure stash and wallet have plenty of value
- Keep an eye and ear out for live events
- Complete any remaining quests
Focus on Ranking Up in Trials
Before the first major reset in ARC Raiders, players should prioritize leveling up in the Trials. Each week, Trials offer five challenges to complete during raids, resetting every Monday. To make progress, players must successfully finish a raid and escape – if a run fails, the challenge progress is lost. While your score is tracked during each run, only your highest score for each challenge counts towards weekly rewards. The biggest benefit of doing Trials, however, is the permanent rewards you can earn.
In ARC Raiders, completing Trials challenges earns you rewards, but these are reset with each major game update (the ‘Expedition wipe’). While these temporary rewards disappear, your best scores from all challenges each week determine your position on the weekly leaderboard. This leaderboard ranking unlocks permanent rewards like character customizations and accessories. With the next wipe happening on December 21st, Trials are a great way to earn lasting items before it does.
Complete the Raider Deck
Before the first major reset in ARC Raiders, it’s a good idea to check out the Raider Deck. Think of it like a free battle pass – you earn Cred by completing daily challenges called Feats. These challenges range from delivering supplies to damaging specific enemies, and you’ll often complete them just by playing the game normally. You can then spend the Cred on rewards within the Raider Deck.
When the game resets with the Expedition wipe, some items earned through the Raider Deck will be lost. However, there are still valuable, permanent rewards to collect before then. You can use the Cred you earn to buy cosmetic items at each Raider Deck tier. You can also spend Cred on Raider Tokens, which let you purchase complete character outfits in the official ARC Raiders store. If you want your character to look great when exploring the Topside, it’s worth investing more time in the Raider Deck before the wipe.
The Raider Deck will refresh with new items from time to time, and the first update with these new items will be released with the upcoming Cold Snap update for ARC Raiders.
Ensure Stash and Wallet Have Plenty of Value
Before the first major reset in ARC Raiders on December 21st, players should stock up on valuable items. Completing a reset event can give you up to 5 extra skill points, but the number you receive depends on the total value of the items and coins you have stored. If you usually keep your storage fairly empty, it might be a good idea to fill it with the most valuable items you can find before the reset.
We don’t yet know exactly how much players need to carry into an Expedition to get the most skill point bonuses, but since everything will be lost afterward, it’s a good idea to fill your stash and wallet with valuable items from ARC Raiders. Also, because your wallet’s contents count toward your total bonus, you can sell valuable items instead of storing them – there’s no need to save them in your stash.
Keep an Eye and Ear Out for Live Events
In ARC Raiders, keep an eye out for live events, called Expeditions, as they’re a great way to earn lasting rewards. These events unlock a special battle pass, similar to the Raider Deck, offering cosmetics, backpack attachments, emotes, and Raider Tokens. The first event, “Staking Our Claim,” launched with the Stella Montis map, and more are planned. If you haven’t finished the “Staking Our Claim” battle pass yet, it’s worth doing, and if you have, you can look forward to future events giving you even more reasons to play.
The live event in ARC Raiders, called “Staking Our Claim,” finishes on December 8, 2025. Players are also hoping the new Cold Snap update will be released around the same time.
Complete Any Remaining Quests
If you’re playing ARC Raiders before the first major reset on December 21st, focus on finishing any current quests and watch for new ones being added. While some quest rewards will be lost in the reset, many offer permanent cosmetic items. There are a lot of quests to complete, even for veteran players. Check the Traders tab in-game – look for traders with a yellow icon to see if they have quests for you.
