In the Qinghe region of Where Winds Meet, you’ll find an old, ruined castle. To explore it, you’ll need to solve a fire-based puzzle and a puzzle involving the castle walls. These puzzles are part of the side quest, “Echoes of Old Battles,” located in Qinghe’s Verdant Wilds. Completing the quest will reward you with a Mystic Skill, as well as valuable items like Echo Jade. How To Trigger The Echoes Of Old Battles Quest In WWM – Where Winds Meet

To start the side quest “Echoes of Old Battles” in WWM, find Lie Bujin at the designated location in Qinghe and talk to him.

Explore the ruined castle and locate the bandits talking close to explosive barrels. Listen to their conversation to learn more, then use a fire arrow to detonate the barrels and eliminate them.

Keep moving forward, but be prepared to fight more bandits – make sure you defeat them all. Then, go to the spot on your map where the bandit leader, Zhang Bao, is questioning someone from the Northern Vow family. Defeat Zhang Bao, and then open the chest in the training ground nearby. Inside, you’ll find a map with a puzzle – it shows where you need to light some special fire devices.

How To Solve Fire Contraptions Puzzle In WWM – Where Winds Meet

To complete the puzzle in the Echoes of Old Battles quest, players need to light four special devices, and they can do so in any order.

The first one is in the training ground where you defeated the bandit leader.

The second device is close to the old castle entrance. Go to the entrance, stand facing it, and then turn left to go up the stairs. Jump onto the broken wall and continue upwards – you’ll find the second fire device is already burning.

Okay, so I kept following the broken wall and found another one of those fire things at the end. To light it, I had to jump up onto some platforms. After that, the last fire thing was down below, to the east. I could either jump directly to it and climb up, or fight my way across the floor and climb from there – I went with the jumping route, it was faster!

The contraption near the enemies is not the correct one, keep going up to the higher one.

Return to the training area and find the pressure plate. Use a Mighty Drop on it to open the way to a secret underground location.

As you venture deeper into the area, you’ll encounter a soldier whose pose you can copy. Continue forward to find a large statue; performing the “Yanyun Oath” pose here will begin the wall puzzle in Where Winds Meet.

How To Solve The Puzzle On The Wall Puzzle In WWM – Where Winds Meet

To unlock the wall puzzle in WWM, you’ll need to activate three stone blocks. Start by going to the wall on the right from the room’s entrance and pressing these two blocks:

  • The block with the move/shift character (移)
  • The block with the hundred character (百)

Next, to complete the wall puzzle in WWM, head to the left wall and push the following stone block:

  • The block with the drift character (漂)

If you can figure out the wall puzzle, it will unlock the entrance to a hidden room. Then, head behind the waterfall and pull the lever – that will open a second door.

Head inside and open the treasure chest to claim valuable rewards, such as the powerful “Touch of Death” Assassin Mystic Skill.
