As an ardent Warhammer 40k fan with over a decade of gaming under my belt, I must say that the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – Grim Protocols has sent shivers of excitement down my spine! The upcoming free update on December 3rd promises fresh challenges, new modes, and an Anniversary Special Event that’s bound to be a blood-soaked celebration.
Fatshark, the developer, has revealed when we can expect the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – Grim Protocols, a new free upgrade coming to all platforms.
The update for all platforms will arrive on December 3rd, introducing a fresh game mode, a brand-new mission, several new weapon categories, and a special time-limited event to mark the second year anniversary of the game.
You can see the new trailer below, then we’ll get into the details.
- New Game Mode – Havoc: Think you’ve mastered the threat over Tertium? Think again. Havoc is a new end-game experience that will test the resolve of the most seasoned operative. Be ready to face daunting challenges and earn new cosmetic rewards.
- New Mission – Dark Communion: Return to the Carnival and explore its darkest corners. Steel yourself as you face hordes of cultists who will stop at nothing to achieve their dark communion.
- Three New Weapon Families: tear through waves of enemies by wielding the destructive might of the Two-Handed Force and Power Swords, and the Ogryn Heavy Stubber.
- Anniversary Special Event: to celebrate the second anniversary of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, the game will host an event that will reward players with a unique weapon trinket.
- And more: including the expansion of the Penance progression track with new challenges and rewards, as well as quality of life improvements such as an extension of the Party Finder feature.
In our assessment, we stated that “Warhammer 40K: Darktide offers a robust multiplayer shooting experience when playing with friends. Playing with strangers is enjoyable, but not as engaging. When battling against AI bots, it becomes an addictive pastime that you’ll continue until you tire of watching your character get injured, then wait for the “rescue” – which is the revival mechanism in Darktide.
If it has the potential to improve over time, Warhammer 40K: Darktide is currently a fun adventure through a rather endearing yet grim world that significantly improves with multiplayer interaction. It’s safe to say that fans of the universe will cherish every gruesome moment they spend on it.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is out now for PC and consoles.
