Warner Bros. May Lead with Nintendo Switch 2’s First Third-Party Port

This year, apart from the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto 6, the Nintendo Switch 2 is generating significant buzz as one of the most eagerly awaited items in the gaming world. Consequently, it’s natural to be curious about the new games that the upcoming console might introduce for the vast number of gamers who are already saving up in excitement.

According to findings by Doctre81 and as highlighted by UniversoNintendo, Gotham Knights from Warner Bros. Game Studios is set to be the initial title for third-party releases on the upcoming gaming platform.

The original developer, when listing his accomplishments, mentioned that he was involved in the production of Gotham Knights and that it would potentially be released on two as-yet undisclosed platforms.

Given that the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rated Gotham Knights for the Nintendo Switch as far back as 2023, it’s reasonable to assume that one of the platforms is indeed the Switch. As for the second unannounced platform, considering the lack of official announcements, we can speculate that the successor to the Switch might be the most plausible candidate for its release.

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the players may not necessarily be eager for the game under discussion, as it’s among the initial releases on this platform and has been embroiled in past debates.

Yet, this leaves them anticipating that games developed by studios apart from Nintendo could potentially arrive on the Switch 2 following its release.

Nintendo Switch 2’s Expected Release And Specifications

Amazing to think that, despite my tireless hunt for hints spanning well over a year now and countless rumored leaks, I find myself just as in the dark as everyone else regarding the long-awaited launch of the next-gen Nintendo Switch console.

Credit for avoiding a significant leak so far goes to Studio, but it’s widely anticipated that an official console announcement won’t be too far off now. In fact, some are speculating that the initial announcement could happen as early as the first quarter of 2025.

It seems that Gotham Knights could be among the initial third-party titles to debut on the upcoming platform. Back in November, there was a confirmation during an earnings call that the console would support backward compatibility, which initially left many stunned upon its announcement.

Nintendo’s original Switch was groundbreaking as it combined portable and console gaming, but its hardware is clearly inferior to competitors such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. However, whispers about the upcoming Switch 2 suggest a substantial improvement in performance, or according to last year’s leaks, this upgrade aims to excite players.
