As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming addition of Avalon to Warzone. Having traversed countless maps across various Call of Duty games, I’ve come to appreciate the intricacies that Treyarch weaves into their designs.
2025 will see the return of Verdansk, while it appears that another massive map, Avalon, may be introduced for Warzone in the near future.
Instead of another fight-to-the-death battle royale map, Black Ops 6 introduces a new one called Area 99 Resurgence, alongside the beloved Verdansk for Spring. While nothing is confirmed, hints within the game and leaked information suggest that Avalon might be joining the lineup as well.
In this text, we’re sharing details about the upcoming Avalon map for Warzone, including its expected release date, the environment, and any classic maps that will be incorporated.
What is Avalon in Warzone?
In the gaming world of Call of Duty, Avalon refers to a region that has a Mediterranean feel. Several maps from Black Ops 6, such as the training course area from the beta and Skyline, along with Stakeout on the Strike map, are situated in this region. It is anticipated that Avalon will also play a role in the game’s campaign.
Though it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the vast leaks from August suggest that the entire Avalon region could potentially be introduced into Warzone as a complete map.
When will Avalon arrive in Warzone?
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excitedly looking forward to the rumor that Avalon might make its way into Warzone with the integration of Call of Duty 2025. Although there’s no official confirmation yet, it seems like we might be seeing it in November or December 2025, a couple of weeks after the game hits the shelves. Fingers crossed!
It’s possible that Avalon may not be released in Warzone at all, as there hasn’t been any official confirmation. This is because the massive Ural Mountains map from Cold War, which many thought would be introduced to battle royale, was instead utilized for larger-scale game modes and Outbreak.
Avalon teasers
In the game Rebirth Island, a hint or preview (teaser) was initially introduced where the name ‘Avalon’ was discoverable within a submarine that emerged as part of the BO6 challenges. Additionally, Avalon is also visible on a sticky note in the Calling Card reward.
During the unveiling of Black Ops 6, viewers noticed a region called Avalon marked on an official map. Interestingly, a rocket is depicted traversing a vast expanse in this same presentation, and when aligning the bridges, it’s clear that the rocket is passing over Avalon, suggesting a much broader territory than what’s shown on the provided map.
If you queue into the Training Course in the beta and head downstairs, you can find this same map alongside lots of smaller maps presumably also showing areas of Avalon.
Avalon leaks
By August 2024, a preliminary version of Black Ops 6 found its way onto the PlayStation data repository, making it playable for individuals who had modified their PS4 consoles (also known as jailbreaking).
Through these leaked materials, almost the entire beta version was exposed, and players managed to navigate Avalon as well. Despite the lack of polished details, it was clear that Avalon had been completely constructed. Furthermore, this is how we came to understand that the Training Area is indeed one of its islands.
As a gamer, I find myself navigating an expansive world dominated by vast bodies of water. Key points of interest are strategically placed on separate islands, interconnected by sturdy bridges. With the shrinking play zone inevitably encroaching upon these aquatic territories, be ready for intense battles that may require swimming and underwater combat skills.
In Avalon, remnants of several iconic maps originally created by Treyarch for Call of Duty were identified. These include Outskirts (World at War, WMD, and Black Ops 1), Hazard (Black Ops 1), Dig (Black Ops 2), and Hacienda (Black Ops 4).
2025’s Call of Duty is said to be another installment in the Black Ops series, with a similar approach as Modern Warfare 3 following 2022’s Modern Warfare 2. It is expected to include all the maps from Black Ops 2, much like how 2009’s maps were part of the sequel.
