As a seasoned Warzone gamer with countless hours spent navigating Verdansk and its ever-evolving landscape, I must say, I’m both excited and apprehensive about the upcoming integration of Black Ops 6 and the promised Perk rework. The return of the Pick 3 system is a welcome blast from the past, but reducing the total number of Perks seems daunting. I fear the loss of my beloved Tracker Perk, which has helped me track down more than one sneaky enemy camper.
Call of Duty’s Warzone is preparing to combine forces with Black Ops Cold War during Season 1, resulting in a significant revamp of the Perks system within the Battle Royale experience.
Benefits play a crucial role in any Warzone setup, providing enhancements and boosts to put you ahead of other players. Yet, there are a few popular choices within the “meta” that frequently take center stage, often leaving lesser-known options underutilized.
In their announcement during Call of Duty Next, developers have revealed plans to significantly overhaul the Perk system in Black Ops 6 and its Battle Royale mode, Warzone.
We’re bringing back the Pick 3 system, which means you can only pick three numbers in your loadout instead of four. Plus, we’re lowering the total number of Perks from the current 29 options down to just 18.
Among these 18 choices, five are fresh introductions never used in Warzone previously. On the other hand, some options merge the impacts of several less frequently utilized Perks into a single entity, aiming to justify their inclusion in your equipment setup.
For example, Tracker and Combat Scout have been combined into one Perk, and a new pick called Sprinter essentially combines multiple movement Perks into one by granting unlimited Tac Sprint.
The goal here is to ensure that each Perk stands independently as a significant advantage, instead of requiring multiple Perks to combine for a strong game setup.
The well-known “pick-3” Perk setup is making its way to #Warzone! We’ve streamlined the Perk selection process, refining them overall. Players can expect to see some familiar effects along with combined and entirely new ones. #CODNext | #BlackOps6

Additionally, it was verified that the arrangement of Perks for each slot allows you to select a distinct gameplay style, ranging from enhanced mobility, heightened perception of the environment, or increased durability.
In your customized loadout, you’ll notice that all modifications apply. However, there are additional Perks that can be found as ground loot. These popular choices like Tracker and Cold Blooded are among them. Importantly, Perks such as Shrouded and Irradiated will only be discoverable as loot and won’t be part of the 18 primary Perks available in the game.
Although there have been numerous changes, the Perk Packages are making a comeback in Warzone following its integration with Black Ops 6. However, they will assume a diminished role compared to before. The Specialist Package, which can be discovered across the map, will continue to provide you with all Perks at once. Additionally, fallen Operators will now drop their unique setup as a Perk Package upon defeat.
Time alone can reveal the impact of these changes on the course of games, but it’s intriguing to anticipate how the gameplay strategy (or ‘meta’) might evolve as players adapt to the novel ruleset.
In addition to Black Ops 6, we’ll see significant updates in Warzone such as improved character movement, an abundance of fresh weaponry, and the reintroduction of the Area 99 Resurgence map.
