Warzone’s leaked Avalon map has been in Black Ops 6’s beta all along

As a seasoned Call of Duty veteran with years of battle royale experience under my belt, I must admit, the news about Area 99 Resurgence map in Black Ops 6 has left me a tad disappointed. I’ve grown accustomed to the grandeur of each new game’s Warzone map – Verdansk ’84, Caldera, Al Mazrah, Urzikstan, and even the rumored return of Verdansk next year.

In a change from previous expectations, Warzone will not introduce a new battle royale map in Black Ops 6, but instead will offer Area 99 within Resurgence. Although the Avalon map is rumored to debut with Call of Duty 2025, players can already experience parts of it during the beta phase of Black Ops 6

Ever since Call of Duty (CoD) introduced its battle royale mode, it seems like every game has followed suit by incorporating their own expansive Warzone-style maps: Verdansk ’84 in Cold War, Caldera in Vanguard, Al Mazrah in MW2, and Urzikstan in MW3. With whispers of Verdansk making a comeback, many speculated that Avalon would be the new map for Black Ops 6

Instead, the Map for Area 99 Resurgence comes together with the integration of Black Ops 6 during Season 1, and Verdansk is set to return in the spring of 2025

An Avalon teaser was found inside Rebirth Island and was briefly shown in a trailer. It was then leaked in the huge datamine at the beginning of August that showcased the entire area which includes classic maps such as Firing Range, WMD, and Hacienda.

Entering the Beta’s Training Course will transport you to one of Avalon’s islands, as hinted in the leaked information

According to TheTacticalBrit’s video, developers have hidden some Easter eggs. If you explore the lower level, you’ll discover a map of Avalon that resembles what players found in Rebirth Island. Although it seems compact for a complete Warzone map, leaked information suggests the full map will be expansive and include islands similar to where the Training Course is set

Beyond just that, I’m thrilled to mention that the Skyline map we’re working with hails from the beta and it’s all set within the mystical realm of Avalon! This means we get an up-close peek at the enchanting surroundings here

Based on Insider Gaming, it appears that the new Call of Duty game, titled Avalon, is expected to launch around late 2025. There’s speculation that this upcoming title could be a sequel to Black Ops 6, similar to how Modern Warfare 3 followed MW2 in 2022. However, we’ll have to wait for an official announcement to confirm these rumors

Indeed, at this point, these seem to be mere leaks and whispers, implying there’s a possibility that the project Avalon may have been abandoned and might never fully materialize in its intended form
