“We Are Fully Committed” Team Clout Addresses Concerns That ILL is a ‘Scam’

Team Clout’s chilling photorealistic horror game, titled “ILL“, was initially hinted at in September 2021 through a sequence of brief concept trailers. Each trailer, lasting roughly 30 seconds, displayed remarkably lifelike settings and grotesque creatures that sent shivers down the spine. However, it was evident that “ILL” was still under development. The game garnered an enthusiastic fan base almost instantly, but this enthusiasm transformed into a measured optimism over time. Eventually, this optimism waned, leaving behind only caution as the years passed.

Over the past year, there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the project called ILL. Some think that developer Team Clout has been secretly creating a horror game, while others claim it doesn’t exist at all. The latter group frequently accuses ILL of being a scam. However, Game Rant got a chance to talk with Maxim Verehin from Team Clout, who was eager to clarify these doubts directly.

Team Clout’s Maxim Verehin Clears Up Questions Surrounding ILL’s Crowdfunding

A while back, Team Clout set up a Patreon platform for fans to back the work of ILL. However, this move has sparked debates among some followers. Some express concerns that Team Clot is collecting funds for ILL without delivering substantial content. Yet, Maxim Verehin from Team Clout seeks to clarify that ILL differs significantly from other indie games in terms of production.

In essence, I can say that ILL received some form of financial backing. While crowdfunding was an option for funding our game development, we never actively pursued it. Instead, we had a Patreon page where people could choose to support us. We didn’t launch many campaigns to grow our Patreon or earn more money; it was more like an added benefit. For instance, we recently published a short video and it was the patrons who funded this production.

How Partnering with Mundfish Has Affected ILL’s Development

Over the past few years, Patreon support from Team Clout has been crucial in keeping the project ILL afloat. However, to truly launch ILL successfully, Team Clout sought additional assistance. They found this help through Mundfish Powerhouse, a fresh publishing division of the company behind the upcoming 2023 game Atomic Heart. This new collaboration between Team Clout and Mundfish has significantly altered the development path of ILL.

As a gamer, diving into a new venture with Mundfish felt like stepping up to the starting line of a thrilling game. It marked the beginning of an intense development phase where we built a robust foundation for our team. Working alongside Mundfish was akin to having a seasoned guide leading us through uncharted territory, as this was our inaugural project and we had plenty of questions. Fortunately, Mundfish often provided the answers we were seeking.

Although ILL is the initial undertaking for Team Clout, they appear well-equipped to handle it. Thanks to collaboration with Mundfish, we can confirm that ILL is now actively under development, with approximately 50 team members dedicated to its creation.

Team Clout’s Maxim Verehin Assures Fans ILL is Not a ‘Scam’

It appears undeniable that the game ILL is genuinely under development, given the gleaming new trailer and the wealth of information now accessible. Even though this may soften some doubters’ reservations, Team Clout understands their voyage has only just started. They are well-aware that they must continue to persuade fans at every turn.

You can expect more updates on the project in the near future, which will demonstrate our steady progress and confirmation that the game is indeed underway. There are still numerous tasks to be completed, and the process remains challenging, but we remain steadfastly dedicated to its success. It’s natural for people to have concerns given past experiences with games that failed to meet expectations. We acknowledge our extended silence, but rest assured, we hope to soon shift those apprehensions towards a more optimistic outlook.

ILL is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
