- Dictator and Giran were weak villains in the series who failed to pose a real threat to the heroes.
In the captivating world of anime called “My Hero Academia”, some truly formidable and menacing villains have been unveiled – such as Tomura Shigaraki, All For One, Overhaul, and numerous others. Their devastating abilities and clever minds make them a force to be reckoned with, allowing them to overpower several prominent Heroes while leaving an indelible mark of destruction on their universe.
In the world of “My Hero Academia”, not all villains possess immense power. In fact, the series presents a variety of weak and seemingly insignificant antagonists who were relatively easy for the heroes to subdue (and some even switched sides after their defeat!). Here are some of the most notable instances where the power gap between hero and villain was particularly wide.
8. Chitose Kizuki (Curious)
One Of The Few Villains In The Series That Actually Died
- Quirk: Landmine
- Debut: Chapter 218 (Manga) Episode 108 (Anime)
The members of the Meta Liberation Army weren’t exceptionally powerful, as many of them held regular jobs outside of their villainous activities, with Re-Destro being a notable exception. However, Chitose Kizuki, also known as Curious, a sensationalist reporter, stood out as one of the most notorious examples. During the group’s encounter with the League of Villains, she confronted Himiko Toga.
It’s indisputable that Toga’s peculiar ability to transform anything she touched into remote-controlled explosives was quite potent, but it wasn’t sufficient to shield Curious from being killed by Ochaco Uraraka’s Anti-Gravity power. Curious’s demise was swift, sudden, and one of the earliest instances of a villain being slain in the entire series, which made her appear even more pitiful upon reflection.
7. Starservant
An Unhinged Minor Villain That Endeavor Took Down In An Instant
- Quirk: Control Glass
- Debut: Chapter 243 (Manga) Episode 102 (Anime)
Of course, My Hero Academia often includes numerous villains who seem to serve no purpose other than for the Pro Heroes to easily defeat them. One such example is Starservant, a somewhat peculiar yet memorable minor antagonist that surfaced during the Endeavor Agency Arc.
Using his special ability to mold and restructure any glass within a certain vicinity, Starservant crafted a massive, potentially devastating orb of glass. However, Endeavor swiftly annihilated it with a single Flashfire Fist, and with assistance from Deku, Bakugo, and Hawks, he was subsequently apprehended. To make matters worse for Starservant, Dabi later disclosed that he had orchestrated the glass-manipulating villain’s incursion into Endeavor’s territory, indicating that this lowly servant of glass was merely a pawn to a more formidable adversary.
6. Mustard
Had A Deadly Quirk But Couldn’t Withstand A Single Physical Attack
- Quirk: Gas
- Debut: Chapter 57 (Manga) Episode 31 (Anime)
In the Forest Training Camp Arc, Mustard emerged as one of the fresh recruits in the League of Villains; however, he was not seen again for a reason – he simply didn’t meet the group’s expectations due to his lack of strength. Despite this, it should be noted that Mustard boasted an extraordinary quirk known as Gas, which enabled him to produce toxic fumes from his body, causing some difficulties for Class 1-B students.
Yet, Mustard heavily relied on his long-range ability instead of having any defensive features to safeguard it. This vulnerability made him an easy target for Itsuka Kendo and Tetsutetsu Tetsutesu, who managed to neutralize his gas with a strategic plan and knock him out with a single strike. Despite his ruthless demeanor, Mustard posed little danger to the determined heroes of U.A. High School.
5. Dictator
Relied Way Too Much On His Human Puppets
- Quirk: Despot
- Debut: Chapter 318 (Manga) Episode 135 (Anime)
The aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War left Japan in a devastating condition, with numerous dangerous villains breaking free from prison following All For One’s liberation. One of these was the notorious character known as Dictator, whom Deku encountered during his stint as an unorthodox vigilante, in the Kamino district.
The ruler employed underhand tactics ruthlessly. He exploited his tyrannical power to manipulate defenseless civilians into assaulting Deku, as he was aware that the young hero, grappling with a significant mental health challenge at the time, would never harm them. However, he overly relied on this one method, which ultimately proved detrimental as Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki defeated him in a swift dual attack, focusing on him rather than his controlled subjects. Interestingly, despite working for All For One, Dictator showed an unexpected lack of strength and effectiveness.
4. Manami Aiba (La Brava)
Has An Important Support Role, But She’s Very Weak By Herself
- Quirk: Love
- Debut: Chapter 170 (Manga) Episode 81 (Anime)
Manami Aiba, recognized by her alias La Brava, often teamed up with Gentle Criminal, forming a notorious villain duo. However, she primarily functioned as the mastermind, meticulously recording and uploading their criminal activities online. In contrast, her partner was responsible for executing their crimes using his exceptional quirk.
Absolutely, La Brava harbors a profound affection for Gentle, enabling her to boost his power through her ‘Love’ ability once daily. Consequently, she often took on a supportive role in their relationship and seldom engaged in combat individually, which is why she appeared weak. However, an encounter with Izuku Midoriya sparked a change in both characters, leading them to abandon their villainous ways and join the heroes during the Final War Arc.
3. Glutton God
A Pathetic Villain Who Tried To Take Advantage Of Japan’s Chaotic Situation
- Quirk: Slime
- Debut: Chapter 299 (Manga) Episode 129 (Anime)
In my vicinity, during a period when hero presence was scarce, an unremarkable bandit group, infamously known as The Glutton God Gang, attempted to prey on civilians and plunder goods within the bustling shopping district, post-Paranomal Liberation War. Miraculously, Beast Jeanist chanced upon the scene, swiftly apprehending them with his Fiber Master abilities in a matter of seconds.
As I watched, the so-called Glutton God attempted to counterattack using a seemingly feeble ability to secrete a gooey substance from his limbs. However, it proved insufficient against Japan’s third-ranked hero. In hindsight, this villain, with his meager presence and fleeting screen time, was such a pitiful and forgettable figure that many fans struggle to recall his identity.
2. Kagero Okuta (Giran)
He’s A Villainous Broker, But Not Much Of A Fighter
- Quirk: Muddied
- Debut: Chapter 57 (Manga) Episode 31 (Anime)
Not every villain engages directly in combat; some choose to leverage their skills for critical tasks such as information-gathering about people. A villain like Giran, who functioned as a broker for the League of Villains, exemplifies this type of character.
In the gripping tale I was part of, I held a significant position within this notorious malevolent organization. Yet, throughout our entire saga, I failed to demonstrate any combat prowess whatsoever. It almost seemed as if the Meta Liberation Army had caught me off guard with unparalleled ease, leaving me utterly incapable of mounting any defense.
Interestingly enough, author Kohei Horikoshi shed light on this enigma in an official databook. My character, Giran, was said to possess a quirk known as Muddied, which temporarily induces minor amnesia in its target. However, this ability seemed less than formidable given its potential and the fact that I never once utilized it during our narrative.
1. Johnny
Doctor Garaki’s Weakest Nomu
- Quirk: Warping
- Debut: Chapter 222 (Manga) Episode 108 (Anime)
The Nomus are a group of artificial adversaries crafted by All For One and Kyudai Garaki. Since their debut in the U.S.J. Arc, they have consistently demonstrated themselves as a lethal combat force. This is largely due to their upgraded physiques and unique ability to utilize multiple quirks simultaneously, which were bestowed upon them by the Evil’s Symbol itself.
Interestingly, not all Nomus were built to be massive, invincible monsters; some were actually small, frail, and powerless beings. A notable instance was Johnny, a diminutive special Nomu that Doctor Garaki kept as a pet, yet he played a pivotal role in transporting other villains with his Warping ability (despite it causing him recurring tonsillitis). However, during the heroes’ final assault on Jaku General Hospital, Mirko swiftly and without ceremony dispatched Johnny, halting Doctor Garaki’s escape plans.
