Weird Switch 2 Exclusive Game Gets New Update for February 2026

Nintendo recently updated Drag x Drive, a popular and distinctive game only available on the Switch 2. Since launching on the Switch 2 in August 2025, the game has been improved with several updates, and this newest one aims to make playing even better.

Though not a major hit for the Switch 2, Drag x Drive sparked interest with its unique concept: wheelchair basketball controlled using the Joy-Con 2’s mouse-like functions. This control method was a bit divisive, but it made the game appealing to Switch 2 owners curious about trying mouse controls. Initially, the game was missing some features players wanted, but Nintendo has responded to feedback, adding local wireless multiplayer and a new Survival Tag mode in updates.

Drag x Drive Update for February 2026 Makes Minor Improvements

I was so excited to see the new Drag x Drive patch drop on February 3rd, bringing the game up to version 1.2.1! It’s nice that this update is mostly small tweaks – the developers said they fixed a problem where defensive pressure didn’t quite work right on halfpipe shots. It sounds like a little thing, but it should make the game feel a lot fairer. They also mentioned fixing a bunch of other issues to improve gameplay, which is always good. I’m curious to see how those changes will play out. The best part is, it should update automatically when I launch the game on my Switch 2!

While this update likely won’t bring a huge wave of players back to the game, it’s good to see Nintendo still offering support. Player numbers for Drag x Drive seem to be low, but Nintendo has a demo available on the Switch 2 eShop so you can try it out before purchasing. At $19.99, it’s also more affordable than many other Switch 2 exclusives. The low player count might be a concern for those interested in the multiplayer aspects, but the game does offer local wireless play, which is great if you have friends to play with.

The latest update to Drag x Drive comes after Nintendo announced how well the Switch 2 and its games are selling. They shared their top four best-selling Switch 2 titles: Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Kirby Air Riders. Although Drag x Drive wasn’t among them, three of these games are only available on the Switch 2. Nintendo also announced that overall Switch game and console sales have now exceeded those of the Nintendo DS.

More Games

It’s going to be fun to see what Nintendo announces for the rest of 2026. They have a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase planned for February 5th. While we probably won’t hear about new games made directly by Nintendo, there’s still potential for some exciting reveals. We might even see more innovative games for the Switch 2 that use mouse controls, like the game Drag x Drive.
