Even though it might not have the grand scale or serious tension of shows like Re:Zero or Tensura, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun is shaping up to be a really fun anime this spring. Every season needs a mix of different shows, and Iruma-kun provides a lighter, more comedic balance. Currently, the fourth season focuses on the challenge of an upcoming Music Festival and the surprising appearance of Purson Soi in the Abnormal Class.
Okay, so I’m totally excited about what’s happening with Iruma-kun! Purson Soi, that super-quiet but talented guy, is a trumpet player and is basically taking the lead on forming a band for the upcoming festival. It’s a big deal because Iruma and his classmates need to reach a certain rank in the Music Festival – Dalet, to be exact – or they’ll lose their amazing Royal One classroom! They’ve worked so hard for that classroom, so there’s a ton of pressure on them to really nail it at the festival, and I can’t wait to see how Season 4 unfolds!
Artistic Prowess is the Name of the Game in Iruma-kun Season 4
Overall, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun playfully flips the typical ideas of demons and devils seen in fantasy and supernatural anime. It’s a lighthearted show focused on fun, friendship, and adventure, rather than intense battles or drama, though the students at Babyls still have opportunities to show their competitive and sometimes mischievous sides. They’re encouraged to use their cleverness and bravery to succeed, as seen during the Harvest Festival—even with rules against actual fighting. However, the upcoming story arc is set to shake things up considerably.
The students at Babyls, including Iruma Suzuki, are gently pushed to try their best and work towards a goal, but the upcoming Music Festival feels like a typical school event seen in many anime like Horimiya or Komi Can’t Communicate. School festivals are common in these stories, and this one focuses on creative expression. It’s new ground for troublemakers like Sabnock and Andro Jazz, but everyone in the Abnormal Class needs to succeed as a musician – or risk losing their place in the class.
The upcoming Music Festival is shaping up to be a wonderful and motivating experience for Iruma and his friends, with some students already showing strong potential. Iruma, being human, naturally leans towards creativity and avoids conflict, and Purson Soi is a remarkably talented musician. It’s fitting that Purson is now officially performing as a trumpet player. Together, he and Iruma might be the class’s best chance of creating a band that can truly shine at the festival and even earn high rankings. Through this, Purson may finally start to open up and share his thoughts and feelings about his classmates, now that he’s become more approachable and communicative.
