Summary
- Wesker annoyed Alexia by trying to take the T-Veronica virus from her in Code Veronica, dodging her attacks flawlessly.
- Wesker’s attempt to ruin Claire’s plan to rescue her brother fueled her hatred, leading to a tense confrontation in Code Veronica.
- Jill despises Wesker for brainwashing her in Resident Evil 5, a turning point in their ongoing rivalry.
Among the numerous adversaries featured across Resident Evil games, none is as notorious as Albert Wesker. Over the course of the series, Wesker has displayed a cold-hearted and ruthless demeanor that has earned him an unforgettable reputation. His infamy is so widespread that even characters who have never encountered him are fully aware of his menacing presence and why he is considered such a formidable threat.
It’s well-known that each person may have their own views on Wesker, but a large number of characters develop intense dislike towards him. This dislike can stem from personal reasons or a desire to eliminate him and his biohazard schemes permanently. Among the entire cast, these are the characters who hold the deepest animosity for the infamous antagonist, Albert Wesker.
8. Alexia Ashford
Wesker Becomes An Irritating Thorn-In-The-Side Of Alexia
In the final stages of Code Veronica’s narrative, Alexia emerges from her sleep as an incredibly potent entity capable of incinerating the entire palace merely by traversing it. Despite this, Wesker is one character who dares to confront her, arrogantly declaring his intention to extract the T-Veonica virus from her body by slaying her. This provocation sparks Alexia’s ire, as she deems Wesker unworthy of wielding the virus’ power. In response, she unleashes a torrent of flames in an attempt to dismiss him forcefully.
At this point, Alexia seems to be speaking condescendingly towards Wesker, displaying signs of irritation due to his audacious remarks. What further aggravates her is his ability to traverse walls to avoid her assaults, and in the process, he manages to strike Alexia, leaving her no choice but to flee the Palace before the situation escalates.
7. Claire Redfield
A Brief Skirmish In Code Veronica Highlights How Much Claire Dislikes Wesker
Despite having limited interactions in the series, their confrontation in Code Veronica offers insight into their hidden feelings towards each other. As Claire prepares to enter Alfred’s Palace, Wesker suddenly emerges and begins choking her, revealing that he is after her brother. All the while, he carelessly tosses Claire around like a doll.
Claire responded rather unfavorably to Wesker, given her deep affection for her brother. It’s no surprise that she attempted to infiltrate the Umbrella Facility at the start of Code Veronica, as her primary goal was to rescue Chris. So, it’s reasonable that Wesker, who is thwarting her plans, elicits a strong dislike from her.
6. Jake Muller
Jake Hates His Father For Abandoning The Family
Jake doesn’t hold his father, Wesker, in particularly high regard. Since Wesker deserted Jake and his mom when Jake was quite young, he never had a chance to know or even learn his father’s name. The void left by Wesker forced Jake to engage in street fighting as a mercenary, merely to survive for himself and his mother. This harsh existence has fostered an intense resentment within Jake towards the man who appeared to show no concern for his own child.
It’s unclear how Jake would respond if he met Wesker for the first time, but one point that the arrogant mercenary consistently emphasizes in Resident Evil 6 is his inability to ever forgive his father for abandoning him so casually, which led to Jake having to survive on his own.
5. Sheva Alomar
Sheva’s Adventures With Chris Showed Her Just How Hell-Bent On Ruling The World Wesker Truly Is
In the opening of “Resident Evil 5”, Sheva initially knows nothing about the extensive past relationship between her partner Chris and his longtime adversary, Albert Wesker. As the story unfolds, however, she gets to see for herself just how perilous Wesker can be, particularly when he starts talking about using Uroboros to establish a ‘remodeled’ and ‘superior’ world, which would unfortunately lead to the extermination of countless individuals.
Combine Chris’ persistent discussions on Wesker’s unreliability and his desire for global domination, it’s not shocking that Sheva felt such joy in defeating him at the end, given the intense dislike she likely had developed towards him due to his actions by then.
4. Barry Burton
Wesker Made The Fatal Mistake Of Messing With Barry’s Family
As a dedicated fan, I found myself deeply engrossed in the first “Resident Evil” game. Gradually, it was revealed that Wesker’s wrongdoings were laid bare before the S.T.A.R.S members, particularly affecting Barry. In an attempt to ensure Barry’s loyalty, Wesker took drastic measures, abducting his family as leverage, forcing Barry into compliance with his orders.
In the Bible’s Revelations 2, this event sparked a fierce hatred within Barry towards Wesker. Even when Natalia confuses Alex Wesker with Albert in that particular game, Barry can’t suppress his desire to confront Albert, should he still be alive, expressing his longing for revenge.
3. Lisa Trevor
One Of Wesker’s Many Unfortunate Experiment Victims
Although Lisa Trevor appears as a frightening monster in the catacombs of the Spencer Mansion, it’s essential to remember that she is just a young girl who has been horribly altered due to the cruel experiments by Wesker and his associates. The sad fate of Lisa is being torn away from her family and turned into an unwilling Bio-Organic Weapon (B.O.W.), forced to live underground in the mansion after being cast off.
Just as the mansion is about to explode, Lisa identifies Wesker and attempts to fight him off. However, a chandelier falls on her, immobilizing her, allowing Wesker to make his escape unharmed. Despite her mutated form making it difficult for her to communicate, Lisa harbors an intense loathing towards the man who turned her life into a nightmare.
2. Jill Valentine
Jill Was Brainwashed Into Becoming Wesker’s Personal Bodyguard
Even after detesting Wesker following the first game’s events, their encounters didn’t cease. Before Resident Evil 5 unfolds, Chris and Jill managed to trap Wesker within an estate, resulting in a confrontation that ended with Jill throwing Wesker out of a window, suggesting they both met untimely deaths in the fall.
Yet, despite enduring a harrowing ordeal, Wesker not only managed to survive but also devised an unusual method to manipulate Jill by embedding a mind-altering device within her chest. Later, with aid from Chris and Sheva, she regained control of her thoughts; however, in the fictional movie Death Island, Jill’s resentment towards Wesker intensified as he exploited her against her comrades. The mental torment this caused is evident throughout the film.
1. Chris Redfield
These Two Rivals Make It No Secret How Much They Hate One Another
At one point, they might have been allies, but a significant rift occurred when Chris uncovered Wesker’s deceitful plans at the Spencer Mansion and, unfortunately, led to Wesker’s demise. In the game Code Veronica, these two frequently clash, with Chris swearing to bring down the rogue scientist for good. Eventually, he fulfills his promise by the end of Resident Evil 5.
In the world of Resident Evil, I, Chris Redfield, have endured numerous wrongs at the hands of Albert Wesker, but none compare to the moment he compelled Jill Valentine to make the ultimate sacrifice before the events of game five, and furthermore, manipulated her mind. This was the final straw that pushed me over the edge, driving me to bring an end to Wesker’s destructive actions, so that he wouldn’t cause any more pain. As demonstrated in Resident Evil 6, however, my animosity towards Wesker’s offspring is not as intense as it once was; the final shot from a rocket launcher to his head was enough to quell the deep-seated anger I harbored for him.
