Where Winds Meet has a lot happening at once, and the complicated names for everything don’t make it easy to figure out what’s going on. It’s not always obvious what things are – for instance, you might not realize that ‘Oddities’ refers to insects.
The game is full of these collectibles, but they can be tricky to find and it’s often unclear what you’re supposed to do with them once you do.
What Are Oddities?

Strange and unusual creatures and plants appear throughout the game, in every area. Specifically in Qinghe, you’ll mostly encounter unique insects, but there are also a handful of peculiar flowers and mushrooms to discover.
Okay, so in my Journal, these special characters are labeled as ‘Sentient Beings’ under each location. What that means is there’s a limited number of them in every area, and I have to track down all of them if I want to fully complete a zone. It’s like a collectible hunt!
Oddities are usually unlocked by solving a little puzzle first. For instance, Dagger Generals are always hidden under rocks – you have to listen for them and catch them quickly. Red Mushrooms, meanwhile, have a red mist you need to touch, creating a simple platforming challenge, before you can collect them.
Regardless, each type of Oddity always presents the same puzzle. For example, a red mushroom will always have mist above it that you need to interact with, and this pattern holds true for all Oddities.
Where To Find Oddities
Strange and unusual things exist all over the globe, and you can find a count of them for each region in the Journal, but it doesn’t specify what those things are.
These locations aren’t shown on the main map, only the smaller one. This means you’ll have to explore to find them. It can be tricky because the areas on the map don’t have clear boundaries, making it harder to pinpoint where to look.
Oddities are shown on the mini-map as a butterfly-like figure.
Using the Grand Lightness Skill is a great way to quickly explore the area. It allows you to move fast and easily check the mini-map for Oddities as you go. If you need to stop using Grand Lightness, simply use a Mighty Drop.
Just a heads-up: when using Grand Lightness, the Oddities symbol might not show up on your mini-map if you’re too high in the air. It works best if you use the skill from ground level.
The Melodies Of Peace
You’ve been collecting Oddities, and you’re probably wondering what they’re for. You might have already encountered the person who’s interested in them – a man named Qi Sheng.
He’s located near the General’s Shrine, a little north of the Wayfarer fast travel point. When you talk to him, he’ll unlock a new system called Melodies of Peace.
The Melodies of Peace are enhancements for your character that unlock new abilities, such as Wallstride for quicker movement, and also increase your maximum Endurance and Vitality.
The Melodies of Peace are completed by finishing a series of steps. Each step rewards you after you turn in a certain amount of Oddities. Don’t worry about which Oddities you submit – the game only cares about the total number you’ve collected, not the specific types.
To reach a new point, you first need to unlock the point it’s linked to. This lets you focus on the areas you want to work on first and come back to others later.
You’ll find the final piece needed to fix the Bell of Demoncalm hidden within The Melodies of Peace.
