What Does Each Stat Do In Metaphor: ReFantazio

As a seasoned RPG enthusiast who’s seen my fair share of combat systems, I must say that “ReFantazio” has certainly piqued my interest with its Archetype system! The freedom to mix and match builds on any party member is a refreshing twist that caters to the strategic gamer in me.

The distinct innovation in ReFantazio’s turn-based combat is the Archetype system, enabling players to creatively combine different roles and abilities for any team member, offering an impressive level of flexibility. A character’s effectiveness in battle depends on multiple stats that are also affected by their chosen Archetype.

In total, there are five distinct abilities available in combat, each serving a unique purpose. Although your teammates automatically improve and gain enhanced stats as they progress, the main character receives an extra point to allocate for every level achieved. Therefore, it’s crucial for players to understand each skill’s function before allocating points to ensure optimal use and success, much like deciding on the best recruit during the selection process.

What Does Each Stat Do In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Every time the main character advances to a higher level, they earn a point to distribute in a predefined stat, which eventually balances out their attributes as the game progresses. Additionally, they receive an extra point to invest in any stat of their choice, with this accumulating over time to shape their character build during the game. The available stats to choose from include:

StatExplanation
St – Strength
  • Raises physical damage from abilities and basic attacks.
Ma – Magic
  • Raises spell damage for all magic types.
En – Endurance
  • Takes less damage from incoming attacks.
Ag – Agility
  • Raises hit, dodge, and escape rate.
Lk – Luck
  • Raises rates for finding items and landing critical hits from physical attacks.

Best Stats To Level Up In Metaphor: ReFantazio

As a devoted player, one strategy that consistently works for me is choosing a character build early on in the game and concentrating solely on dishing out damage, whether it’s through Physical or Magical abilities. Regardless of your preference, I strongly advise setting aside a few points in Endurance every couple of levels. This is because enemies will only grow stronger, dealing more damage, and their stats will quickly surpass the occasional Endurance boost you receive during level-ups.

If you decide to specialize in a Strength-focused character, consider allocating some points into Luck as well. This will enhance your odds of scoring critical hits and securing additional actions during combat since you won’t be exploiting weaknesses. Regardless of the way you shape your main character, every Archetype comes with its unique set of stats that are added to any character who equips it. While each character can utilize any Archetype, the protagonist serves as an ideal canvas for experimenting and optimizing different Archetypes according to your preferred build.

Certain Archetypes may excel with specific team members based on their stat growth during leveling, but all Archetypes remain versatile due to inherent abilities provided by the Archetype itself.
