What Does the Wizard’s Hat Do in Megabonk?

The recent Christmas update for Megabonk significantly alters the game’s competitive landscape. If you’re aiming for a high ranking and want to compete with the best players globally, it’s important to review the patch notes. The update includes substantial changes and a new item that could dramatically impact gameplay.

The Wizard’s Hat was added to Megabonk with the December 2025 update. This guide explains how to unlock the hat and what it does, helping you understand why it’s a key item for creating a very powerful character build.

Requirements to Unlock the Wizard’s Hat in Megabonk

The Spooky update to Megabonk introduced a new item called the Pot (stainless steel). This is a very rare, legendary-level item, meaning it’s difficult to find because of how strong it is.

In Megabonk, players need to obtain both Vlad and the stainless steel Pot before they can get the Wizard’s Hat. These items are essential to complete the quest that rewards the hat.

  • Wizard’s Hat Unlock Quest: As Vlad, use Pot (stainless steel) to upgrade any weapon above the max level of 40.

How to Unlock Vlad in Megabonk

Vlad is a vampire character who uses Blood Magic. Players can unlock him in Megabonk after finishing Tier 2 of the Desert Map and obtaining the Blood Magic weapon.

Once players finish Desert Tier 1, they need to replay the level and enter the portal to start Tier 2, where they’ll face a stronger enemy named Anubruh, who is a more difficult version of Lil’ Anubis. To unlock Blood Magic, players must first earn 12,500 kills in the Megabonk game mode. After that, they need to select the Bloody Tome within the game and level it up to Level 12. Reaching Level 12 with the Bloody Tome completes the Blood Magic unlock quest, allowing players to purchase it.

After fulfilling the necessary conditions, players can buy Vlad and select him as their character when choosing their hero.

How to Unlock the Pot (stainless steel) Item in Megabonk

To unlock the stainless steel Pot in Megabonk, players need to open every chest and pot within the first crypt on the Graveyard map. While it seems simple, it’s actually quite challenging. You only have about a minute before Spooky Steve appears and instantly defeats you, so be quick! A timer on screen shows how much time you have left before he arrives.

Previously, getting the stainless steel Pot required completing a specific quest with the Bandit character before time ran out. Now, any character in Megabonk can complete the quest even after the timer ends and Spooky Steve appears, though players will have a very limited time to do so before Steve defeats them.

To get all the rewards hidden in the crypt, players need to learn how it functions. When a game begins on the Graveyard map, players start inside a crypt and must find the exit to reach the graveyard and get ready for the boss battle. If they take too long, a character named Spooky Steve will appear and chase them. The crypt contains more than a dozen pots and chests that players can open for free items, so it’s beneficial to collect as much loot as possible before time runs out.

Typically, players open chests and interact with objects as they head for the exit, but they’re careful not to take too many risks because of Spooky Steve. When trying to unlock the stainless steel Pot, though, they have to search every single interactive item to get it open.

How to Get Every Chest and Pots in the Crypt

  • Best character – To easily grab every chest and pot in the first crypt, players will want to pick a character that is highly mobile. Tony McZoom and Calcium are great candidates – that is if players are able to time their jumps right, as falling into the lava or from a platform can mean having to start over. The best character to pick when trying to unlock the Pot (stainless steel) is Monke. Besides being relatively fast and being able to jump quite far, Monke has a unique ability, Monke Grip, which allows him to climb up walls, and it makes this challenge a lot easier.
  • Movement – Players should master bunny hopping in Megabonk, as it’ll help speed up their character, so they can finish in time. To bunny hop, they have to crouch while moving forward and then jump. It’ll allow players to jump a lot farther, due to the momentum that they gained.
  • Mini-map – It’s not easy to miss a pot or a chest inside the crypt, so players will want to keep an eye on their mini-map, so they can make sure that they’re opening everything in the room.
  • Layout – Lastly, players will want to replay the crypt a few times before they give this a real try. The rooms in the crypt are randomly arranged every time, so gamers should more or less know where they should go to grab the next pot or chest whenever they enter a new room.

Here’s how to get the stainless steel Pot in the game: make sure you have at least 37 Silver in your inventory. You can purchase it in the Items section of the Unlocks tab. After buying it, the Pot will occasionally appear when you interact with Shady Guys, Moai Statues, and chests, unless you’ve disabled it in the settings.

How to Get the Wizard’s Hat in Megabonk

After finishing the earlier steps, players will have everything required to get the Wizard’s Hat in Megabonk. All that’s left is to upgrade any weapon past its normal maximum level while playing as Vlad.

To unlock this, players need to find the Pot (made of stainless steel) during a Vlad run and upgrade one of their weapons to at least Level 41. It’s a challenging task, but here’s how players can increase their chances of success:

  • Refund Weapon Slots upgrades in the Shop – invest in only two weapons, making it easier to put all XP into them
  • Select the XP Tome – maximize how much XP is obtained from each collected shard
  • Play on Tier 3 – give yourself more time to level up and find the Pot (stainless steel)
  • Toggle off items – toggle off most times to increase your chance of finding the Pot (stainless steel)

Once players complete this quest, they can buy the Wizard’s Hat. Like the stainless steel Pot, it lets them continue leveling up even after reaching the usual maximum level. But instead of affecting potions, the Wizard’s Hat impacts Tomes.
