What Kishimoto Learned from Sakura to Make Sarada the Ultimate Ninja

Summary

  • Kishimoto learned from Sakura‘s mistakes to avoid hate for Sarada.
  • Sakura’s chakra control makes her strong without bloodline advantages.
  • Sarada’s potential could make her one of the strongest shinobi ever.

The “Naruto” series boasts impressive world creation, thrilling battles, and captivating narratives. Yet, some viewers argue that the representation of women in this franchise could use enhancement, and they have a valid point.

Sakura Haruno, from Naruto, was a character with great potential, but her development fell short due to poor writing. Conversely, when Kishimoto crafted Sarada Uchiha, it appears he leveraged the lessons learned during his tenure writing Sakura. One could ponder what insights Kishimoto gleaned over those years.

Kishimoto Probably Didn’t Want Sarada to Get So Much Hate

It was nice to see a female protagonist in the series “Naruto,” but Kishimoto frequently underdeveloped Sakura as a character. Despite his intentions to make her more relatable, it seems he struggled with creating well-rounded female characters. Consequently, Sakura doesn’t come across as being particularly realistic. Additionally, she is not provided with as much background information compared to Naruto and Sasuke.

Despite Sakura’s significant growth throughout her training under Tsunade, she appears to fade into the background at a certain point. Additionally, some fans believe that Kishimoto didn’t fully explore her character by pairing Naruto and Hinata instead of Sakura and Sasuke in the final story arc. Interestingly, Boruto acknowledges the emotional toll that Sasuke inflicts on her and their family, offering a more complex portrayal of their relationship.

Sakura Never Deserved The Hate She Got

It’s worth noting that while Sakura may seem underdeveloped as a character, she has unfortunately faced an excessive amount of criticism from fans. Despite her focus on a male character in much of the series, she possesses several admirable traits.

Despite limited information about her family lineage, it appears that the Haruno clan isn’t as prominent as the Uchiha or Uzumaki clans. Unlike Sasuke and Naruto, who are descendants of the powerful Otsutsuki clan, Sakura doesn’t seem to possess any of their “genetically advantageous traits” (though it’s possible she has them but they haven’t been disclosed yet). However, without these genetic advantages, Sakura proves herself to be an exceptional medical-nin and manages to surpass Tsunade, a Senju with Otsutsuki ancestry, in her skills.

From this viewpoint, Sakura stands out as the team member with exceptional chakra mastery among Team 7, being the sole individual who doesn’t benefit from “bloodline inheritance” within the series. Despite her character development falling short in numerous aspects, Sakura demonstrates immense strength as a ninja by self-reliance alone – and with such finely tuned chakra control, she could potentially be difficult to surpass if she had focused on genjutsu training rather than medical ninjutsu.

Sarada Is Good, But Maybe Too Overpowered

It’s likely that Kishimoto, Kodachi, and Ikemoto may have used Sakura as a model for avoiding certain pitfalls when creating a female character, with the aim of minimizing the same level of negative reception from viewers in Sarada’s case.

Initially, Sarada encountered quite a bit of criticism, primarily because of her appearance. However, in combat, she is far from deficient; rather, she demonstrates both natural talent and determination. Prior to unlocking abilities like the Sharingan and the Mangekyo Sharingan, she had already faced numerous battles and endured significant hardship. Remarkably, she manages all this while being just an ordinary teenager.

Mama… some boys are sooo… stupid. Well, he is… kinda similar to me in some ways too…

— Sarada Uchiha

In the anime “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex”, Sarada shows an unexpectedly powerful strength, which becomes even more impressive after the introduction of the Ohirume jutsu. Although Sarada’s growth as a character is not unreasonable, her increasing power level gives the impression that the creators might be excessively trying to compensate for the perceived shortcomings in the development of Sakura.

Can Sarada Become The Most Powerful Ninja Ever?

Sarada has demonstrated her combat prowess, yet there’s still room for her character growth, implying she might master more formidable abilities – indeed, capabilities beyond creating black holes and manipulating gravity could be within her reach. Some enthusiasts speculate that she may activate the Byakugo Seal at some juncture, but it’s also possible she’ll develop powers far surpassing our current imagination.

Absolutely, the series hasn’t revealed all the downsides of her newly acquired powers yet, and there are likely many obstacles ahead for her (and it’s possible that she may lose her sight by the end due to the Mangekyo Sharingan). It’s challenging to predict if she will become the most powerful ninja ever, but it’s clear that she has already ranked among the strongest shinobi featured in the series.

One fascinating aspect of Sarada is that despite possessing immense capability, she doesn’t crave power for its own sake. Her primary motivation is safeguarding those dear to her. Contrary to fantasizing about becoming a powerful shinobi or surpassing her father, her ultimate ambition lies in attaining the position of Hokage.
