As you explore the various regions in Nioh 3, discover collectibles, and complete Myths, you’ll find plenty of equipment for your character. Getting better and rarer weapons and armor is key to increasing your damage output and improving your defenses as you advance in the game.
Running out of storage space for items is a common problem in the game, but don’t worry! This Nioh 3 guide has everything you need to know about managing your gear.
What To Do With Extra Gear in Nioh 3
If you’re carrying too much, one option is to drop items. While we usually don’t recommend this, it can be useful if you’ve already exceeded your inventory limit and want to pick up new items. Try dropping weaker weapons or armor to free up space.
Honestly, this isn’t the best way to make use of extra items, so I always like to see what I’ve actually got stored up first. It just feels smarter to know what I have before trying anything else!
To get stronger in the game, you’ll need to level up, and that requires Amrita. While you can earn Amrita by defeating enemies, there’s another method that also helps you manage unused items. Visit the “Preparations” section at the Shrine and choose “Make an Offering.” This lets you trade unwanted equipment for Amrita. The more familiar you are with a weapon (indicated by its familiarity level), the more Amrita you’ll receive for offering it.
The Facilities section within the Titles settings has some tasks focused on providing items with specific rarity levels. Completing these tasks will earn you more Prestige.
You can also get new items by visiting the Blacksmith in the Eternal Rift. Once you speak with her, you’ll be able to create equipment and tools. You’ll need materials for this, which you can obtain by breaking down old items.

Once you finish the “A Fierce Flame” quest from the Blacksmith, you’ll be able to use Soul Match and Soul Extraction. Soul Extraction lets you get Yellow Soul Ores and Azure Souls, which you can then use with Soul Match to improve your equipment.
When you’re starting out, focus on equipping white and blue gear and breaking down purple and yellow items. Save Soul Extraction for later in the game when you’re getting much better equipment, as it’s most useful then.
