As a devoted cinematic enthusiast, I must say that the long-awaited release of my cherished PlayStation 5 occurred towards the tail end of 2020. However, due to initial stock scarcity, it wasn’t until recent times that this marvel has been easily accessible. The year 2024, in particular, has been a rollercoaster ride for the PS5 – a blend of triumphs and tribulations that have undeniably offered valuable insights for Sony to absorb.

By the end of 2024, Sony’s industry standing has grown more intricate. On one side, the success of Astro Bot at The Game Awards resonated strongly with numerous fans. Yet, on the other hand, the flop of Concord and the criticism aimed at the PS5 Pro have caused significant setbacks. The upcoming year, 2025, presents Sony an opportunity to capitalize on its achievements and steer clear from past mistakes.

PS Plus in 2025

As a lifelong cinephile who has been subscribing to PlayStation Plus for years, I’ve come to expect new games every month like clockwork. However, as I plan my gaming schedule for January 2025, I’m finding myself having to adjust my expectations due to the unusual start date of the year. With the year starting on a Wednesday, the free games coming to PS Plus Essential will arrive a week later than usual. This small shift may not seem like much, but it can throw off my carefully planned gaming routine and leave me scrambling to fill the gap in my lineup.

On the bright side, Sony has confirmed that a range of games will be leaving PS Plus in January, so I’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch up on some classics before they disappear. As always, I’ll do my best to stay flexible and make the most out of the situation, but I can’t help but feel a little frustrated by this unexpected change.
