As a long-time fanatic of FromSoftware games, I must admit that this upcoming spin-off titled “Elden Ring: Nightreign” has me absolutely thrilled! Having spent countless hours slaying demons and overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds in the lands of Dark Souls and Elden Ring, the prospect of surviving three nights in The Lands Between alongside two friends is an exhilarating challenge I can’t wait to tackle.
2025 promises an exhilarating time for Elden Ring enthusiasts with the upcoming release of “FromSoftware’s Elden Ring: Nightreign” towards the end of the year. This title was unveiled at the 2024 Game Awards and offers a single-player or cooperative three-person gameplay experience.
In a departure from traditional FromSoftware games, Elden Ring: Nightreign offers a unique gaming experience that is well-suited for multiplayer environments. With stress tests set to begin in 2025 as the game gears up for release, which might occur towards the end of the first quarter of the year based on FromSoftware’s past patterns.
Elden Ring: Nightreign’s Upcoming Network Test
FromSoftware Gears Up For a 2025 Elden Ring Launch
Even though the game Nightreign is scheduled for release towards the end of 2025, there will be beta testing sessions throughout the year to ensure the system’s robustness. Interested players can register to join these tests by visiting FromSoftware’s website and providing their information. Keep an eye out for sign-ups opening on January 10, 2025, as the first network test is planned for February of that same year.
It seems that the initial trial run might have a limited number of participants, while later trials could involve more players. Players will be given opportunities to experience parts of the game, which will help in putting Nightreign‘s servers through their paces, preparing for the main release. At present, it looks like the first test won’t include PC gamers, but that may alter when FromSoftware is prepared to stress test their PC servers for future beta sessions.
Elden Ring Nightreign’s Survival Component Promises to Tread New Ground For the Series
In this game, you’ll get to pick a character to control. For three consecutive nights, you’ll navigate The Lands Between – solo or with two companions. During the day, you can enhance your character and prepare for the nighttime challenges. However, take note that the area will contract during the night, and one of eight bosses will appear. Unfortunately, cross-platform play is not supported in this game.
Returning Mobs and Old Faces
In essence, “Elden Ring: Nightreign” isn’t a direct sequel but more like a companion game that shares similarities with the original “Elden Ring.” It’s not surprising to find elements from “Elden Ring” in “Nightreign,” as is common in this genre of games. The trailer for “The Game Awards” featured various enemies from both “Elden Ring” and “Dark Souls,” which experienced players will recall. Among the familiar foes returning from “Dark Souls” are:
- The Nameless King
- Parasite Spider
- The Duke’s Dear Freja
- The Centipede Demon
In addition to the Dark Souls bosses and adversaries, some recurring characters from Elden Ring are also set to return in Nightreign. Among these returning faces are:
- Exile Soldiers
- Soldiers of Godrick
- Banished Knights
- Knights of Zamor
- Omens
Possible Release Windows for Nightreign
It is possible that Elden Ring Nightreign could come out sooner than expected, potentially even within the early part of the year, given that it may already be in a stage where stress tests can be conducted. Historically, releases from FromSoftware have followed a consistent pattern.
- Dark Souls: September 22
- Dark Souls 2: March 11
- Dark Souls 3: April 12
- Elden Ring: February 25
It’s often the case that FromSoftware games come out during the first quarter of the year. If this trend continues, we might expect Elden Ring: Nightreign to be released soon. Since the stress test is scheduled for February, it’s unlikely to debut then, but a release date in late March or April could very well happen. However, if there are delays due to further testing, or if the game requires additional work after the beta phases, a September launch wouldn’t be surprising either.
