What to Expect From Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5

Final Fantasy 14 is preparing for its Patch 7.5 update, titled “Trail to the Heavens.” This patch marks the end of the Dawntrail expansion’s story and content, and hints that the next expansion is coming soon. We expect to learn more about it at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival 2026 on April 24th.

If you’re not familiar with how Final Fantasy 14 updates work, patches ending in .5 are usually major releases. In fact, Patch 7.5 is so big it’s being released in four separate parts.

  • Patch 7.5 – April 28
  • Patch 7.51 – Early June
  • Patch 7.55 – Late July
  • Patch 7.56 – Early September

This large update, along with smaller patches released afterward, will keep players busy well into 2026, probably until the next Final Fantasy XIV expansion comes out later this year or in early 2027. Here’s a look at what’s coming in these updates.

Everything Coming in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5

Wrapping Up the Stories of Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail

In the main story of Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.4, players encountered Halmarut and Calyx, who warned of a coming disaster threatening all of Etheirys – a doom linked to a mysterious, fading power. The first part of Patch 7.5’s story will continue this thread, setting the stage for the next big expansion. Players can expect to uncover more details about the strange interdimensional key, the enigmatic “Winterers,” and the nature of the calamity Halmarut and Calyx foreshadowed.

The next major update will introduce a new dungeon and a challenging trial. The dungeon, called The Clyteum, is a frozen, deserted city with towering skyscrapers. While it resembles Garlemald, it might actually be located in a different world from one of Etheirys’s other shards. The trial pits players against Enuo, a powerful necromancer who wields Void-like tentacles and is surrounded by skeletons. Originally a final boss in the Final Fantasy 5 Sealed Temple dungeon, Enuo is now making his first appearance in Final Fantasy 14.

This update concludes the alliance raid series with the final chapter, “Windurst: The Third Walk,” from Final Fantasy 11. Players will explore the Tarutaru Federation, a region inspired by Vana’diel, and encounter the famous Black Mage, Shantotto. This raid and its related quests will bring the Final Fantasy 11 crossover story to a close.

New Limited Job: Beastmaster

A key feature of Patch 7.5 is the Beastmaster, a new job in Final Fantasy 14 with unique gameplay. Instead of traditional weapons, Beastmasters focus on taming and commanding creatures. At launch, players will be able to capture 50 different beasts, and can have up to three assisting them in battle simultaneously. These beasts come in three sizes and each has two unique abilities, allowing for a lot of customization in how players approach combat. The Beastmaster class begins at level 1 and can be leveled up to 50.

Similar to the Blue Mage, which was originally a limited job, Beastmaster is mainly intended for players to enjoy on their own. Because of this, it won’t be able to participate in certain types of gameplay, including:

  • Duty Roulette
  • Main Scenario Quests
  • Deep Dungeons
  • Variant/Criterion Dungeons
  • PvP
  • Field Operations
  • Ultimate Raids
  • Stone, Sky, Sea
  • Hall of the Novice
  • Trust/Duty Support
  • Command Missions
  • Retainer Jobs

Beastmasters will generally be able to join other players for most activities, whether in pre-made groups or with anyone else. They’ll also earn extra experience when defeating monsters while exploring the world of Final Fantasy 14, and they’ll have access to a unique late-game challenge called the Crucible of the Unbroken. While similar to the Blue Mage’s Masked Carnivale, the Crucible will have its own unique design and how you progress through it. Details will be shared closer to launch, but early images hint at a branching progression system with elements similar to roguelike games.

We don’t know exactly when Beastmaster will be released – it could be in Patch 7.5 or a later update – but it will definitely arrive before the next big expansion. Because creating Beastmaster took a lot of work, updates to Blue Mage won’t be ready until after Dawntrail is released.

Ultimate Raids, PvP, Housing, and More

The April 28th update to Final Fantasy 14, Patch 7.5, will include several other significant new features, with a few arriving shortly after the initial release.

  • Faux Hollows: Shinru’s Domain (Unreal)
  • New Crystalline Conflict PvP map: Archeia Harmonias

    • 100% more outdoor furnishing placement capacity

    • Type A: 85 basic dyes from 2.x patches
    • Type B: 9 dyes from Ishgardian Restoration
    • Type C: 11 dyes from Cosmic Exploration
    • Excludes dyes from the online store

All Known Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5x Content

Inconceivably Further Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail Story Conclusions

While we don’t know exactly what’s coming in future updates, we have a good idea of some features. Patch 7.56 will release the second and final part of the “Trail to the Heavens” main story questline. This will connect the events of Dawntrail to the next expansion, setting the stage for what’s to come.

The final chapter of the hilarious Hildibrand Adventures is coming soon, bringing the wacky adventures of the Gentleman Inspector and Hardiboiled to a close. Players who have finished the Pelupelu, Yok Huy, and Mamool Ja Allied Society quests in Final Fantasy 14 will also be able to start a new questline related to the Dawntrail expansion. We expect these quests to be released in either Patch 7.55 or 7.56.

Final Fantasy 14 will soon add a new area called North Horn to its Occult Crescent Field Operation. Along with this comes a major raid, “The Forked Tower: Magic,” and new content for several jobs – Dragoon, Ninja, Summoner, Necromancer, and the Black, White, Blue, and Red Mages. Players can also look forward to upgrades for Phantom Weapons and Armor, and the conclusion of the Occult Crescent story arc. This update is expected to arrive with either Patch 7.51 or 7.55.

Crafting, Gathering, and Minigames Galore

Crafters and gatherers have exciting updates coming too! Patch 7.51 will probably introduce Auxesia, the fourth planet in the Cosmic Exploration series for Final Fantasy 14, and will also include the last upgrade for the relic tools used in crafting and gathering for the Dawntrail expansion.

Players can also look forward to special deliveries from Tiisol-Ja, the owner of Aunt Tii’s Tacos, as part of the Final Fantasy 14 experience. A new fishing area in Thavnair is also coming soon. While the exact update these will be included in is unknown, they probably won’t be available in patch 7.5.

A new multiplayer game will be added to the Gold Saucer with the upcoming 7.5x patch for Final Fantasy 14. Players will get a complete look at this new mini-game during the first Fan Festival.

We’ll share more details about Patch 7.5 and its updates during the next Letter from the Producer LIVE stream and at FanFest. While we don’t have a confirmed date yet, we’re aiming for around April 17th – that’s one week before FanFest and two weeks before Patch 7.5 goes live.
