As a lifelong fan of both Conan the Barbarian and Mortal Kombat, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming addition of Conan to Mortal Kombat 1! Having grown up watching Arnold Schwarzenegger’s portrayal of the iconic character, I can only imagine the sheer chaos he’ll bring to the game.

In January, Conan the Barbarian joins Mortal Kombat 1, and here’s what fans can anticipate from this iconic character. Conan isn’t the first action movie hero to step into the Mortal Kombat world; Rambo and the Terminator from the previous game serve as proof. Yet, he is expected to infuse a distinctive charm into Mortal Kombat 1 with his presence. So far, there’s limited footage available, but it offers fans a glimpse of what they can expect from him in the game.

In the downloadable content (DLC) of Mortal Kombat 1, Conan will be the fifth guest character to enter the game since its release, making him the 11th character overall. Unlike other characters introduced so far in the game, Conan possesses distinctive qualities. His barbarian style gives him a unique appearance compared to the other characters in the roster. Even among the guest characters of Mortal Kombat 1, Conan stands out as he shares little similarity with the others. His sneak peek gameplay demonstrates him keeping General Shao airborne with a series of strikes. Moreover, he can reflect projectiles using his sword, sending them back at the attacker – a strategy that could be beneficial if Conan lacks self-projectile abilities and adds a strategic twist to an otherwise hand-to-hand combat-focused set of moves.

Conan Can Be a Great Brawler With the Right Tools

In Mortal Kombat 1, whether Conan’s fighting style is successful will influence his standing within the game’s competitive scene, or metagame. If Conan lacks his own projectiles, he would have to depend on his speed and techniques like a projectile deflector against characters with range. If these strategies don’t work well, he could struggle against zoners, potentially leading to defeat. However, if he can maintain pressure and keep the advantage, Conan might become a top-ranked contender.

It seems so far that Conan’s strategy in Mortal Kombat 1 primarily involves closing in for powerful, damaging combination attacks.
