Pokemon GO frequently provides its users with fresh events nearly every month. Some of these events are tied to holidays, while others serve to highlight particular Pokémon or introduce new elements to the popular mobile game. Nevertheless, one highly successful event is making a comeback in Pokemon GO from January 10 onwards.
The Pokemon GO Fashion Week event offers a fantastic opportunity for gamers to capture freshly dressed Pokemon and augment their clothing collection. For next year’s event, it has been confirmed by Niantic and Nintendo that there will be new outfits and costume-wearing Pokemon included in the festivities.
Previous Pokémon GO Fashion Weeks
In October 2020, Pokemon GO introduced the annual tradition known as Fashion Week. Usually occurring in the fall, this event has been a recurring feature ever since. However, unlike previous years, Fashion Week 2025 is happening early – this month to be precise. This shift might be due to the absence of a Fashion Week event in 2024. To compensate for that missed event, Niantic decided to move up Fashion Week to the beginning of 2025 instead of delaying it until fall.
Generally speaking, during Fashion Week, you’ll often see at least two Pokemon in costumes, including their shiny versions, a rise in the number of certain Pokemon appearing in the wild, and more chances to catch these Pokemon outside of their usual encounters, such as in raids or from eggs. Over the years, the game has introduced at least two new costume-wearing Pokemon for each event.
In each year, the selection of clothing items at Fashion Week has differed based on the event. For instance, Fashion Week 2020 introduced only Longchamp Backpacks as new items, whereas Fashion Week 2021 brought in both free and paid items across various categories. Interestingly, Fashion Week 2021 was the first to design its items around a specific Pokemon character – Furfrou. Since then, each successive Fashion Week has followed this trend, with Fashion Week 2022 offering Mareanie-themed clothing and Fashion Week 2023 introducing pieces based on Gothitelle and Renuniclus.
How Fashion Week 2025 Stacks Up to its Predecessors
2025’s Fashion Week appears to be maintaining the traditions set by past events, as confirmed so far by Niantic and Nintendo. At present, only two Pokemon and their sparkling versions have been unveiled – Minccino and its evolved form, Cinccino, who will don trendy rhinestone spectacles and bows on their ears. This makes 2025’s Fashion Week the event with the fewest new costumed Pokemon in history to date.
Additionally, players can find Pokémon that donned costumes from past Fashion Weeks roaming the wild, such as Blitzle (from 2021) and Diglett (from 2022). Some shiny costume-wearing Pokémon will also be found through Field Research tasks, like Butterfree (from 2021), Dragonite (from 2023), and Minccino. Raids provide an opportunity to catch other costume-clad Pokémon; One-Star Raids may spawn Shinx (from 2020) dressed up, along with Minccino or standard Furfrou, while Three-Star Raids could bring you costumed Butterfree and Dragonite.
Fashion Week 2025 Shop Items
For the upcoming Fashion Week, some fresh outfits have been introduced to the in-game store of Pokemon GO. Currently, only a coordinating navy blue Plaid Top and Plaid Pants set is available for purchase using PokeCoins, which can be worn as a suit. At this point, there’s no word on any Pokemon-themed avatar items being part of Fashion Week 2025.
Just like how Pokemon GO usually operates, Fashion Week 2025 offers Paid Timed Quests. By spending $5.00, players can unlock event-specific Timed Quests. The perks include 3,500 XP, 3,500 Stardust, a fashionable avatar pose tied to the event, and increased chances of encountering themed Pokemon such as Dragonite, Minccino, and regular Furfrou. Keep in mind that these Timed Quests are only available during the event and any rewards need to be claimed before January 19 at 8 PM local time.
Overall, it appears that Pokemon GO’s Fashion Week 2025 is following a similar pattern as previous events, albeit with a potentially smaller number of traditional items. However, there’s a possibility that we might see an increase in avatar items or new Pokemon costumes during this event. The Pokemon GO Fashion Week 2025 kicks off on January 10 at 10 AM local time and concludes on January 19 at 8 PM local time.
