- A trailer for the upcoming Mandalorian and Grogu film is also likely in 2025.
As a dedicated Star Wars fan with decades of immersive experiences under my belt, I can confidently say that 2025 is shaping up to be an extraordinary year for our beloved galaxy far, far away! The return of Cassian Andor in Season 2 and the much-anticipated Star Wars Visions Season 3 are just the tip of the hyperspace jump.
Last year left us starved for new movies, but the small screen delivered some compelling series like The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew. While The Acolyte didn’t quite hit the mark for me, I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing where Skeleton Crew takes us next.
The anticipation is palpable as we approach Star Wars Celebration, where I’ll be paying close attention for any major announcements or updates on Lucasfilm’s plans. If history repeats itself, Daisy Ridley’s return as Rey might just make an appearance!
Ahsoka’s journey continues in Season 2, and while we won’t see it until 2026 at the earliest, I’m excited to learn more about what’s happening behind-the-scenes this year. And let’s not forget the upcoming Mandalorian and Grogu film – I can hardly wait for a glimpse of that trailer!
Beyond the confirmed releases, there are plenty of other projects in development at Lucasfilm, including films from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, Shawn Levy, and Simon Kinberg. With any luck, we’ll get some updates on these exciting ventures in 2025.
Lastly, as a longtime Star Wars devotee, I can’t help but joke that if the force is truly with us, maybe this year will finally be the one when they announce a live-action adaptation of my favorite Star Wars Expanded Universe book: The Courtship of Princess Leia! Fingers crossed!
2024 saw no Star Wars films gracing cinema screens, yet the distant Galaxy Far, Far Away kept Star Wars enthusiasts entertained with fresh TV series on Disney+. In 2025, more thrilling tales await fans on their small screens, while there could also be significant developments from other parts of the galaxy.
2021 brought about the premiere of two new live-action Star Wars series on Disney+. One was the intriguing Sith origin tale The Acolyte, featuring Amandla Stenberg and Manny Jacinto, which garnered mixed reactions and sadly didn’t secure a renewal for another season. The other ongoing series is Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, still in the first season on Disney+. Although it has sparked hope with its affectionate perspective and talented young cast, its continuation remains uncertain at this time. As we move forward into next year, Star Wars enthusiasts can look forward to the revival of some beloved series.
All The New Star Wars Movies & Series Coming Out in 2025
Andor Season 2 Will Be Released In April
In 2022, the gripping and dramatic series Andor, focusing on Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a thief turned rebel fighter, left audiences captivated by filling in his backstory before the events of Rogue One. The upcoming second season will delve deeper into Cassian’s storyline, leading up to the start of Rogue One, while also advancing the tales of his associates Luthen (Stellan Skarsgard), Bix (Adria Arjona), Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly), and others. Season 2 will bring back Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic and reintroduce Alan Tudyk as the voice of K-2SO, the droid. With season 1 being one of the best series in the Star Wars universe, season 2 has a lot to live up to when it premieres on April 22.
Star Wars Celebration Will Bring News in April
The launch of Andor takes place in quick succession following the annual Star Wars Celebration gathering, happening this year in Japan. This three-day festivity is a tribute to all Lucasfilm and Star Wars related matters, frequently unveiling news and updates from the Galactic realm. Given its significance, it’s likely that Andor’s new season will be extensively highlighted during the event. Previous Star Wars Celebrations have been instrumental in disclosing significant Lucasfilm developments, like Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey, so it promises to be an occasion that dedicated Star Wars enthusiasts should keep a close eye on.
Season 3 of Star Wars Vision Will Be Released
As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I am incredibly excited about the upcoming release of Season 3 of Star Wars Visions. Growing up with the original trilogy and later falling in love with the expanded universe, I have always been captivated by the unique blend of science fiction, adventure, and rich storytelling that Star Wars offers.
The fact that Lucasfilm has confirmed a new season in 2025 is fantastic news for me and fellow fans alike. The animated anthology series has quickly become one of my favorite parts of the Star Wars universe, offering fresh perspectives and innovative storytelling from some of Japan’s most talented animation studios.
Knowing that Kamikaze Douga, Kinema citrus Co., Production I.G, and TRIGGER will be contributing to the third volume has only heightened my anticipation. These studios have a proven track record of producing visually stunning and thought-provoking animated content, and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the Star Wars galaxy.
With high expectations for this new season, I am eagerly awaiting its release in 2025. The success of the first two seasons has shown that Star Wars Visions is a project worthy of excitement, and I have no doubt that the third volume will continue to push the boundaries of what animation can achieve within the Star Wars universe.
Updates On Ahsoka Season 2
As a die-hard Star Wars fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the upcoming season of “Ahsoka.” Confirmed for development in early 2024, this second installment is slated to start filming in 2025, with a release potentially happening in 2026. While we might need to wait a bit longer, I’m optimistic that we’ll get some tantalizing updates from the set in the coming year as production kicks off.
“Ahsoka” was a heartwarming reunion of characters from Dave Filoni’s animated series “Star Wars Rebels,” and the fandom is buzzing with anticipation, eager to see where this beloved character’s journey continues.
A Trailer For The Mandalorian and Grogu is Likely
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement about the upcoming big-screen adventure of “The Mandalorian” and his adorable companion Grogu, scheduled to hit cinemas in 2026! Filming for this epic journey wrapped up in 2024, so we might be treated to some tantalizing plot hints or even a sneak peek next year. Pedro Pascal will reprise his role as the Mandalorian, with Sigourney Weaver joining the cast in a mysterious capacity and Jeremy Allen White portraying Rotta the Hutt. I can hardly wait!
Other Updates From Corners of the Star Wars Universe
At present, Lucasfilm is juggling numerous projects within its Star Wars galaxy. Movies led by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, and Shawn Levy are all being developed at the studio currently. Moreover, Simon Kinberg’s upcoming trilogy has recently been announced. The Lando and Rogue Squadron films have momentarily been set aside. Fingers crossed for news on these projects soon! Furthermore, Star Wars enthusiasts can anticipate updates from the gaming aspect of the universe in the approaching year as well.
