Honestly, 2024 and the start of 2025 were kinda rough for Ubisoft. Big games like Star Wars Outlaws and Skull and Bones didn’t really hit the mark, and their financial reports showed a pretty significant drop in revenue – over 30%! It was starting to feel like things were going downhill, but their latest report in November gave me a little hope. Apparently, Assassin’s Creed is still a huge seller and is keeping things afloat, which is good news for a fan like me!
While fan reactions were mixed, Assassin’s Creed Shadows received positive reviews from critics upon its March 2025 release, currently holding an 81% average score on OpenCritic. Ubisoft’s November financial report also revealed the game exceeded sales expectations, as did older Assassin’s Creed titles. Collectively, the entire franchise has seen an impressive 211 million days of player engagement. Given the uncertain future of some of their other games, Ubisoft appears to be focusing heavily on Assassin’s Creed, which could lead to a lot of new content for fans in 2026.
What to Expect From Assassin’s Creed Shadows In 2026

Although Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been a big win for Ubisoft, the company has announced it won’t be releasing another expansion after the first. In a November interview with JorRaptor, the game’s associate director, Simon Lemay-Comtois, stated that they don’t have plans for an expansion as large as the ‘Awaji’ content.
It’s unlikely that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will get a large expansion like previous games. However, the game might receive smaller updates and new content in 2026, similar to the recent Attack on Titan collaboration. Players who purchased Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the Nintendo Switch 2 can also anticipate some updates in the near future to enhance the game’s performance on the console.
Every Officially Confirmed Assassin’s Creed Project That Could Show Up in 2026

The long-awaited live-action Assassin’s Creed series for Netflix is now officially happening. First revealed in 2020, the project has Roberto Patino and David Wiener leading the creative team as showrunners and executive producers. Recently, Netflix announced the addition of Laura Marcus, Zachary Hart, Toby Wallace, and Lola Petticrew to the cast, indicating that production is moving forward.
Although we don’t know exactly when Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series will come out, and filming hasn’t begun yet, we can expect some news before the end of 2026. Most likely, we’ll hear about who’s been cast in the show within the next year.
Assassin’s Creed Jade — Likely To Be Shown in 2026
Alongside announcements for games like Assassin’s Creed Hexe, Assassin’s Creed Infinity, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows (originally called Codename Red), Assassin’s Creed Jade was revealed as the first full Assassin’s Creed game designed for mobile devices. Although it was announced more than three years ago and has been tested with players in closed alpha and beta versions, a specific release date for Assassin’s Creed Jade hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Considering how long Assassin’s Creed Jade has been in development, an official announcement should be coming soon. While Ubisoft didn’t have its usual Forward event this year, it might return next summer, given how many games they have planned or are working on. If Ubisoft does host a showcase in 2026, Assassin’s Creed Jade will likely be featured, perhaps with a confirmed release timeframe.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe — Could Be Shown in 2026
Very little information has been revealed about Assassin’s Creed Hexe since it was first announced in September 2022. Beyond a short initial trailer suggesting a 17th-century Germany setting with occult elements, there have been no official updates. However, leaks from gaming journalist Tom Henderson in March 2025 indicated that Hexe is unlikely to be released until after the anticipated Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake and Assassin’s Creed Invictus.
Because we don’t know much about Assassin’s Creed Hexe, it’s hard to say when – or even if – it will come out. However, if development is going well, we might see a trailer showing off the game’s characters and world as early as 2026, probably during a Ubisoft Forward presentation.
Assassin’s Creed Invictus — Could Be Shown in 2026
Despite not being shown at the September 2022 Ubisoft Forward event, Assassin’s Creed Invictus was first discussed in an interview with Assassin’s Creed VP and Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté on the same day. Currently, the only confirmed detail about Invictus is that it will heavily focus on multiplayer. Like another unreleased title, Hexe, there’s been no word on when either game might be released or how much progress has been made on their development.
Back in March 2025, Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming reported that Assassin’s Creed Invictus was planned to release that year. While the game didn’t come out in 2025, his information suggests development is nearly complete. Assuming there aren’t any major setbacks, fans might finally get a first look at Assassin’s Creed Invictus in 2026, whether it’s a full reveal or just a debut trailer.
Every Rumored Assassin’s Creed Project That Could Show Up in 2026
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake — Very Likely to be Revealed in 2026
Everyone in the gaming world seems to know about the upcoming remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, even though Ubisoft hasn’t officially announced it yet. Over the past few years, details have leaked repeatedly, most recently in November and December 2025. The game, reportedly called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, appeared on the PEGI ratings website, and industry insider Grant Taylor-Hill of Insider Gaming suggested it could be released as early as March 2026.
It’s always wise to be skeptical of rumors, but a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag seems increasingly likely. It’s less a question of if it will happen, and more a question of when. While it might not be released this year, Ubisoft is expected to officially announce the remake by 2026.
New Mainline Assassin’s Creed RPG — Not Likely to be Revealed in 2026
Ubisoft is currently working on several Assassin’s Creed games, as this list shows. Despite this, recent job postings from November 2025 hint that Ubisoft Quebec may be starting work on a new Assassin’s Creed role-playing game. However, because these postings are so new, it’s unlikely fans will see this new RPG released before 2027.
