The Nintendo Direct presentation in September 2025 delivered big news for fans of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. After an eight-year wait, a release date was finally revealed, and a new trailer showed Samus riding a motorcycle – later identified as the Vi-O-La.
With Metroid Prime 4: Beyond now released, players are eager to discover how to unlock and ride the motorcycle. It’s not immediately clear how to get on and off the Vi-O-La, especially for those who skipped the tutorials, so many are looking for guidance.
How to Get the Motorcycle in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Shortly after entering the Volt Forge and looking for the second teleporter key, players will discover the Vi-O-La. But before they can use it, they need to restore power to Tower 1. This involves taking the elevators all the way down to the bottom and activating the lightning rod. Once power is restored, players can return to the motorcycle area and use the Vi-O-La Suit Printer to unlock the Vi-O-La Suit. Finally, they can activate the motorcycle by pressing the A button.
All Vi-O-La Controls (How to Get Off the Motorcycle in Metroid Prime 4)
It’s easy to control Samus’ motorcycle. Use the R or ZR button to speed up and the L or ZL button to brake. Press the + button to get off the motorcycle, and you can also use it to call the motorcycle to your location when it’s usable. As you progress, you’ll unlock speed boosts (using the B button) and the ability to fire while riding (using the A button). You can scan your surroundings while on the motorcycle, but you’ll need to have the Psychic Visor equipped.
