When Does Super Mario Galaxy Come Out on Switch?

Super Mario Galaxy first came out for the Wii in November 2007. The follow-up game was released in May 2010, just under three years after the original. Both of these Nintendo titles received high praise from critics and were very popular with players, leading to a lot of requests for them to be available on the Switch.

Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are both coming to the Nintendo Switch on Thursday, October 2, 2025. You’ll be able to buy them separately or as a combined package. Similar to other Nintendo-published games, they’re expected to be available for download and purchase at midnight local time. However, players on the West Coast (Pacific Time) will get a head start, as the games will unlock at 9 PM PT on October 1st, since the official release time is 12 AM Eastern Time on October 2nd.

You can buy the Super Mario Galaxy games separately for $39.99 each. But if you want both the original Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, it’s more affordable to purchase the bundle, which includes both games for $69.99.

Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are coming to the original Switch. A complimentary update will also be released for the Switch 2, letting players enjoy the game in 4K when played on a TV and in 1080p when playing in handheld mode.
