In recent times, Hollow Knight Silksong has gained quite a legendary status. Among all anticipated sequels, this Metroidvania follow-up might be second only to GTA 6. Why is Hollow Knight Silksong Taking so Long?

Team Cherry has not yet provided a specific explanation for the delay in releasing Hollow Knight: Silksong, but it’s reasonable to assume that they are dedicating additional time to refine and polish the game to make sure it meets their standards before launching.

Initially, it was scheduled for a 2023 release for Silksong. However, the developers have announced a delay due to ongoing development. They shared on X that instead of releasing in the first half of 2023, they’re still working on perfecting the game because it has grown larger than expected and they want to ensure it lives up to its potential.

In April 2024, there was an official rating given to Silksong, causing widespread belief that its release was imminent. Regrettably, the year 2024 passed without any hint of the game appearing. However, in January 2025, Team Cherry confirmed: “Indeed, the game exists, it’s advancing, and it will be released.” This clarification alleviated doubts that Silksong’s development was problematic or abandoned.

By April 2025, we’ll be entering the anticipated release window for Silksong. After a wait of six long years, it seems our patience is about to pay off!
