Mojang has unveiled the Ghastling, a fresh addition to Minecraft in an upcoming release. This charming creature resembles the eerie mobs that drift in the Nether, and players have the liberty to transport it to the Overworld for endless rides. However, before you can enjoy this new companion, there are certain procedures to complete first. But when does the Minecraft Ghast update roll out to introduce the new mob?
As a dedicated Minecraft player, I can’t help but appreciate the perks of taming a contented Ghast. This spectral creature not only offers some nifty advantages, but it also lets you construct structures on its back in Survival Mode – quite handy, wouldn’t you agree?

How to Get a Dried Ghast in Minecraft
Based on the information provided by Mojang, we anticipate that the Minecraft update featuring the dried ghast will likely drop sometime during the summer or fall of 2025. This is due to their mention of its release this year and the upcoming testing phase.
Mojang has shared the details about the addition of the [dried ghast], but they haven’t specified when or how it will be implemented yet. We understand that the dried ghast, along with its variants like [ghastling] and [happy ghast], are planned for a future update, but the exact release date for the ghastling mob is still undecided.
In Minecraft, a creature known as the “baby ghast” is also referred to as a baby ghast or a dried ghast. This withered, melancholic being dwells in the Nether. Since it’s a block-like entity, you’ll need to pick it up and transport it back into the Overworld using a Nether Portal. To bring this gloomy creature to life, simply rehydrate it, which will transform its sad demeanor into happiness.
To bring back to life the desiccated ghast, immerse it in water and let it stay for several days. Afterward, you’ll witness it transforming into a fresh creature, emerging from the water.
At that stage, it will transform into a miniature ghost-like creature known as a Ghastling, which can be considered your ‘pet Ghast’. Afterward, it’ll develop more into a friendly Ghast, allowing you to attach a harness and ride it across the Overworld freely. To obtain the friendly Ghast, make sure to keep the Ghastling content by throwing snowballs or water at it regularly.
