The Undercroft is a hidden area in Hogwarts Legacy that players can only access by completing the “In the Shadow of the Undercroft” quest. It’s a place the Gaunt family has known about for a long time, and it now serves as a secret meeting place for Ominis Gaunt and the Sallow twins, Sebastian and Anne.
The Undercroft, once a Gobstones pitch, now serves as a great place to practice spells, particularly Wingardium Leviosa using the room’s barrels. Players can also find a hidden entrance to the Undercroft within Hogwarts Legacy, located far outside the castle walls.
How To Find The Undercroft In Hogwarts Legacy
Players can’t access the Undercroft until they start the “Shadow of the Undercroft” quest. This quest is the 18th one in Hogwarts Legacy and comes after completing the “Room of Requirement” mission.
In Hogwarts Legacy, you can use the Compass Path to Objective feature by pressing either the Up button on the D-Pad or the V key. This will cause your Field Guide to show you a path directly to your current goal.
Players will receive a marker guiding them to Sebastian, who is located near a large, horned creature’s skeleton in the Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower.
Go left after the staircase and follow the direction the horn is pointing. You’ll reach a dead end where you’ll discover a magical cabinet that takes you to the Undercroft.
To best understand how to reach this location, it’s helpful to start by looking at the closest Floo Network access points.
How To Get To The Undercroft In Hogwarts Legacy Via Floo Flame
The Undercroft at Hogwarts is different from other hidden rooms like the Map Chamber and Room of Requirement because you can’t use Floo Powder to travel there quickly.
The nearest Floo Flame is located in the Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower, which is part of the Astronomy Wing. From there:
- Head down the stairs, sticking to the right side of the banister, following it right.
- Stop when you reach the large skeleton of a horned creature.
- Stay on this floor and head in the direction of the horn.
- Keep going to the dead end where the secret cabinet is found.
Starting from the Transfiguration Courtyard Floo Flame, players can go through the double doors into the tower, climb the stairs, and turn left to find the skeleton, which indicates the way to the Undercroft.
Entrance To The Undercroft In Isadora Morganach’s House
As the story progresses, during a section called ‘In the Shadow of the Estate,’ the main character and Sebastian will investigate the remains of Isadora’s home.
Okay, so after I crawl through this hole in the wall – gotta duck low! – I can head down the stairs to the cellar. It’s pretty straightforward, actually.
In the cellar, destroy a section of bookshelves with regular attacks. Behind them, you’ll find a mirror that’s actually a hidden doorway leading to the Undercroft, and from there, into Hogwarts.
Be wary of the Devil’s Snare in Isadora’s House. Use Lumos to dispel it.
This passage only works in one direction, meaning you can’t use it as a shortcut to get from Hogwarts to Feldcroft.
