How To Find Ancient Vessels in Horizon: Zero Dawn

Where To Find All Ancient Vessels in Horizon: Zero Dawn

Locating the Ancient Vessels in Horizon: Zero Dawn can be quite challenging due to the game’s expansive map and the tiny objects that need to be found. However, players have an easy solution to help them focus their search for these twelve items. To streamline tracking, they can simply obtain an Ancient Vessel map, which will indicate the general locations of the vessels. These maps are available for purchase from specialized vendors, such as Hunting Goods merchants. You’ll be able to get one quite early in the game, with one being located in Mother’s Cradle and another in Meridian.

As a dedicated fan, here’s my take: When I get my hands on the map, I’ll spot the locations for the Ancient Vessels marked as cracked mugs within white boundaries. These circles signify the broader region Aloy needs to explore to discover them. Upon arriving at one of these spots, all I have to do is use her Focus to pinpoint each item’s exact location. In my quest to find a purple anomaly hovering above Ancient Debris, that’s where I’ll uncover the Ancient Vessel!

All Ancient Vessel Set One Locations

In the initial collection, you’ll discover a total of four old artifacts known as Ancient Vessels. One of them can be found far to the west, while the remaining three are situated near the Devil’s Thirst Camp, which is located in the far east.

Set One, Vessel One – Faro

In the game’s map, toward the western end, lies the ancient Faro Vessel. It’s situated northeast of the modest Evening Sign settlement and southwest of Brightmarket, nestled within a Sawtooth site. To access it, you must conquer two Sawtooth obstacles and two Bellowbacks to clear the path. Once cleared, follow the yellow zipline leading to the ruins where you’ll discover the vessel.

Set One, Vessel Two – Arches

In Horizon: Zero Dawn, if you’re on a quest to collect The Arches vessel, it’s tucked away on the other side of the map. Since I always like to organize my collection in order, here’s a tip for you! The collectible is hidden southwest of the Devil’s Thirst camp, or simply west from where the game’s initial Tallneck is found. Just follow your compass and head southwest from the Tallneck’s location, then cross the river. Once there, you’ll spot the vessel on a ledge by the river, nestled under a crumbled archway. Enjoy your exploration!

Set One, Vessel Three – Dronehop

The third Ancient Vessel is only a few dozen meters from the Devil’s Thirst camp, directly to the north-west. If you’ve collected the Vantage Point in this area, it’s just south of that. Cross the bridge to the north of the camp and head a little west from the bridge to find the Ancient Debris pile and the vessel nestled within it.

Set One, Vessel Four – Wayfarers

Near Devil’s Thirst camp, you’ll find another location known as the Travelers’ Mug. To reach it, take the trail that heads south from the camp, slightly to its east. Once you pass the camp and cross a bridge, the Old Ruins heap will be on your left, hidden in the grass.

All Ancient Vessel Set Two Locations

In the second collection of ancient artifacts, you’ll find four pieces, with the majority being located to the east. Interestingly, there’s one item that lies in the opposite direction. This artifact might demand that Aloy increases her abilities a couple of times before she’s ready to face the task at hand.

Set Two, Vessel One – Miriam

The Miriam ship can be found near the easternmost tip of the map, sandwiched between two Vantage Datapoint spots, and almost directly in the center of the green area on the east side of the map. There aren’t many towns or settlements around – the nearest one might be Devil’s Thirst Camp, but it’s quite far to the north-east from there. There are several Campfires nearby, but the most significant spots are the Watcher site to the north-west and the Broadhead site to the south-west.

In this region, you’ll likely come across the Old Artifact quite effortlessly since it’s nestled amidst the solitary remnants of old structures. Just follow the trail that connects two of these ruins, then employ your Sight to pinpoint and gather the Ancient Remnants.

Set Two, Vessel Two – USRC

The USRC collectible is a short distance from the Miriam one, in a south-eastern direction. Follow the path from where Miriam is found to the east, then turn right and head south. The collectible is on the western side of the road, nestled in a pile of debris next to a large ruined building.

Set Two, Vessel Three – KZ

To obtain the KZ ship, you should journey even further south than the location of the USRC one, venturing into the forest where additional ruins are present. Before reaching the tall ruins (if approaching from the north), you will encounter a group of smaller ruins surrounded by a small hill. The mound of Ancient Debris is located beneath an empty archway within this cluster, and that’s where you’ll find the vessel.

Set Two, Vessel Four – Sterling-Malkeet

Unlike the other three artifacts located elsewhere, the Sterling-Malkeet Ancient Vessel is positioned on the northwestern part of the map. To locate this item, players must first eliminate the Shattered Kiln camp (recommended level 20). After clearing the camp, follow your Focus trail from the Campfire in the settlement until you encounter a pile of Ancient Debris with a distinctive purple glitch.

All Ancient Vessel All Set Three Locations

To play all the ancient vessels in the game’s final collection, you’ll have to explore beyond Nora territory since they’re all situated on the western side of the map. This means completing the “A Seeker at the Gates” mission is essential first.

Set Three, Vessel One – Odyssey

In Horizon: Zero Dawn, the Odyssey ship becomes accessible as you advance through the game’s main story missions. During a mission called “The City of the Sun,” you will be tasked with infiltrating an excavation site to save the Olin and eliminate several enemies. Access the site from the west since it’s the only entrance within the circle of rock formations. Once the area is secure, use your Focus to locate the Ancient Vessel when it appears on your radar.

Set Three, Vessel Two – Metallurgic

The Metallurgic Vessel will transport players to the most remote north-western corner of the map, to the ancient ruins known as Maker’s End, which are a significant part of the main story mission. This particular collectible should be easier to find compared to others in the game because of its location. To reach it, go slightly east of the ruins towards the Corrupted Zone and cleanse it. If you’re quick, you might even manage to bypass the Corrupted area.

Set Three, Vessel Three – Jomei

In Horizon: Zero Dawn’s expansive landscape, the Jomei collectible is found near the center on the western side of the map. If you’ve explored most of the terrain, you can seek out the ancient ruins known as Dimmed Bones, with the item situated a brief walk to the west of these landmarks. Alternatively, it’s just as convenient to travel from the Campfire towards the west. To locate it, start at the Campfire, then ascend the rocky slope and use your Focus once you reach the top. The Ancient Debris will be found on your right as you crest the hill.

Set Three, Vessel Four – Thunderheads

In the remnants of the Makers End, nestled within its north-western sector, lies the last Ancient Artifact – a relic hard to overlook among its kin. During the Makers End mission, post vanquishing the initial adversaries, proceed towards a higher platform. Follow the constricted path that ensues; it’ll lead you not only to a significant narrative juncture but also the unveiling of a colossal new device. As you prepare to descend, employ your Focus along the way to locate a cluster of Ancient Remnants on the right-hand side.

Although Aloy might find the Ancient Vessels insignificant, there is a specific merchant named Studious Palas in Meridian who has a high regard for these items, especially when a complete set is acquired. Once you encounter him and he appears on your map as the Vessel Merchant, completing each set or gathering them all will trigger an interaction with him. In return, he will provide you with a Palas Rewards Box upon completion of each set.

Each of the Palas Rewards boxes contains 500 Metal Shards and five Modification boxes. With this in mind, finding and trading all 12 Ancient Vessels will earn Aloy 1,500 Metal Shards and 15 Modification Boxes, which will contain coils for weapons and outfits that can significantly improve Aloy’s loadout.
