Where To Find All Madiao Card Match Locations In Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet is an open-world RPG with various minigames to offer players a change of pace. These games let you earn money and improve your character’s abilities. One particularly challenging game, called Madiao, is hard to learn without a good guide.

The game has a tutorial, but it takes a little practice to really understand how everything works. We’ll explain the key mechanics to help you successfully bluff opponents – whether you’re playing against the computer or other people – and win rewards.

How To Play Madiao

To play at a Madiao table, you first need to have the right coins and meet the table’s specific stat requirements. These requirements differ from table to table.

Once the game starts, it moves fast! On your turn, you can choose to play your cards honestly or try to trick the other players to get ahead.

This guide focuses on playing against computer-controlled characters, but the strategies discussed also work well when playing with other people.

The Rules Of Madiao

In Madiao, the first player starts by choosing a number and laying down their cards, clearly stating what they’ve played. For instance, a player might announce they’ve played four cards, all with the number ten.

You won’t be able to see the other players’ cards, so you’ll have to guess what they might have based on your own hand. You can either call their bluff, which makes them show their cards, or let the game continue. If you don’t challenge them, the game goes on until someone else does.

If you challenge someone, one of two things will happen. If you’re right – meaning you called their bluff – they have to take all the cards in the center of the table and take a drink. Then, you get to start the next round by naming a new number.

Each time you drink, you gain a +25 percent chance to pass out, which will boot you from the game.

If your opponent is telling the truth, you’ll have to accept the cards and drink the wine. The game goes on until someone gets rid of all their cards without losing consciousness.

Best Madiao Strategies

Here are some ways to increase your chances of winning. These range from being honest at the start to strategically showing your cards to mislead your opponents. Read on for helpful tips and tricks to improve your game.

  • Challenge when four or more cards are played. It’s always suspicious when someone plays four or more cards in one turn. While there’s a chance that they have wild cards, which count as any number when played, it’s unlikely that someone plays a hand of six sevens. This is an ideal time to challenge, but be prepared for the worst-case scenario.
  • Start with a few false cards, then play truthfully. When a new turn begins, only put down one or two cards. Save the truthful number cards for your next turn in the round, when other players are more likely to challenge you. This way, you get rid of cards and minimize the risk of having to drink.
  • Constantly challenge one player. If you constantly challenge one player after you start the round, you can repeatedly call a new number. Doing so enables you to truthfully get rid of your cards in batches while also eliminating the competition.
  • Use Wild Cards to trick others. Wild cards take on any number when played, so if you say you set down six pieces of seven, but played five wild cards and only one seven, you’re technically right. Spamming a large number of wild cards in a round will easily trick other players, so use it wisely when the pot is full.

As a poker fan, I’ve learned it’s super helpful to really pay attention to which cards everyone else has. The better you can remember what they’re holding, the easier it is to tell when they’re trying to trick you and call their bluff!
