Okay, so as I’ve been exploring Viewros in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, I kept running into these deactivated Scout Bots – there’s one in pretty much every area. They didn’t do anything at first, which was kinda annoying. Turns out, you need to get the Thunder Shot back at Volt Forge for the third time to actually activate them. Once you hit them with the Thunder Shot, they scan the whole area and show you where all the collectibles are that you’ve missed. I’m putting together a guide showing exactly where to find every single Scout Bot in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, so you don’t have to waste time searching!
Where to Find All Scout Bots in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Every dungeon contains a Scout Bot that shows you where all the hidden items are on that floor. We’ve listed where to find each bot below, with detailed directions to help you locate them.

| Scout Bot 5 | Great Mines | Shortly after Samus and VUE-995 get separated on Level 3, you’ll come to a large corner section called Main Shaft – Level 3. After opening the large door, you’ll see a massive Maul Griever cocoon. While facing the cocoon, turn left, and you’ll see the Scout Bot in the corner. |

How to Activate a Scout Bot in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
To get your Scout Bot working, you first need to unlock the Thunder Shot upgrade. You can’t get this until you’ve visited Volt Forge three times and gotten the Psychic Grapple for your Psychic Lasso. You earn the Psychic Grapple by defeating the final boss in Flare Pool, the fire-themed level.
Now that you’ve unlocked the Thunder Shot, go to each Scout Bot and give it a single electric shock. This will give them power. Finally, use the Psychic Visor to scan them. This fully activates the bots and triggers a short cutscene of each bot scanning its surroundings.
After the Scout Bot finishes scanning, it will drop to the ground and become inactive. The map will then display a small orange cross to indicate the location of any undiscovered items, particularly upgrades like Missile and Shot expansions, and Energy Tanks.
