In the game Hytale, you need Hardwood Planks to build advanced items and create an amazing base using the Furniture Workbench. But where do you find the Hardwood to actually make those planks?
This guide shows players how to find the wood required to make Hardwood Planks in Hytale, and details all the awesome and helpful items they can craft with them.
How To Craft Hardwood Planks in Hytale

To make Hardwood Planks in Hytale, you’ll first need to find Oak or Ash Trees. Ash Trees are identified by their thick, reddish-brown trunks and dark green leaves, which you can chop down for Ash Logs. Oak Trees, on the other hand, have dark brown trunks and yellowish-orange leaves. Cutting down Oak Trees will give you Oak Logs.
To make Hardwood Planks, players need to use Oak Logs or Ash Logs at the Builder’s Workbench. Simply place a stack of logs in the designated slot to unlock the recipes for Hardwood Planks, including Decorative and Ornate versions for building structures.
Now that you have Hardwood Planks, you can use them to craft items. To do this, you’ll first need to build a Furniture Workbench. You can create it at a regular Workbench using 6 stone and 6 tree trunks.
Here’s a list of everything you can make from the beginning of the game in Hytale using Hardwood Planks (items with an asterisk (*) can be made directly from Ash or Oak Logs at the Builder’s Workbench).
- Wooden Wall (Various Patterns and Colors): Hardwood Plank + Clay (mix different petals with clay to get colored clay).
- Tankard (and other decorations): Hardwood Plank + Iron Ingot

Hardwood is especially helpful for crafting Small Iron Chests, which are tougher than standard chests. Players will appreciate the extra storage for all the items they collect. Other Hardwood items are best for players who want to get really creative with building their bases.
Hardwood flooring just looks better and can make your base feel cozy – something plain wood logs can’t achieve. You can also use it to build unique Wooden Walls with colorful clay patterns, which adds a lot of visual appeal. This lets everyone decorate their homes however they like when playing Hytale with friends.
To make sure it works correctly, the Furniture Workbench must be placed in the same room and on the same type of floor as the chest holding the materials.
