As a seasoned Pokémon trainer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the introduction of the Ice Stone evolution items in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has added a whole new layer of excitement to my journey through Paldea and Terarium. The open-world gameplay allows me to traverse these cold regions at my own pace, but having completed most of the main quests, I can now focus on tracking down these elusive evolution stones.
In the world of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, certain Pokemon like Cetoddle and Eevee can transform with an Ice Stone. As their names suggest, these evolution stones are typically discovered in chilly regions within Paldea and Terarium. Since a few Pokemon evolve using an Ice Stone for their development, it’s recommended to gather them if your goal is to fill out the Pokedex. The open-world setting of Scarlet & Violet lets you explore freely, but locating this evolution stone will be simpler once you’ve advanced through the main storylines/quests.
Ice Stone Locations
Paldea and Terarium
Ice Stones can be discovered on Glaseado Mountain, Waterhead Chill (an alternative name), and the Polar Biome of Terarium (or Indigo Disk). In the region of Paldea, there are two confirmed locations (similar to Poke Ball items), and one in Kitakami.
- There’s one Ice Stone on one of the end fingers of Glaseado’s Grasp. You can get here by warping to the Glaseado’s Grasp or Glaseado Mountain fast-travel point.
- There’s one Ice Stone on the cliffs in Dalizapa Passage. You will need Koraidon/Miraidon’s climbing ability to reach it.
- In Kitakami, warp to Oni Mountain and look for the entrance to the Chilling Waterhead cave. This is the same path you take to reach Fezandipiti. There’s an Ice Stone by one of the cave entrances (near the waterfall) that leads to the spring with Magikarp.
In the Polar Biome, you might stumble upon shimmering objects on the ground similar to other areas. These could be various items like berries or Poke Balls, and occasionally you may find an Ice Stone. Since there’s no guarantee of finding an Ice Stone, it’s wise to pick up anything you come across during your journey.
Apart from purchasing items directly, you may acquire Ice Stones from the Item Printer located within the Club Room at Blueberry Academy. However, accessing this handy device requires a sum of 200BP initially. Afterward, you can elevate its level up to three times by spending more BP, thus allowing you to produce multiple items using the printer at once.
Which Pokemon Evolve with Ice Stones?
And How to Get Them
At present, six Pokemon require Ice Stones for their evolution. In the games Scarlet and Violet, only five Pokemon necessitate Ice Stones because Galarian Darumaka isn’t found in the Paldean, Kitakami, or Blueberry Pokedex. To evolve these specific ones, you will need an Ice Stone:
Pokemon | Evolution | Location |
---|---|---|
Eevee | Glaceon | South Province (Area Two), West Province (Area Three) |
Alolan Vulpix | Alolan Ninetales | Polar Biome (Scarlet) |
Alolan Sandshrew | Alolan Sandslash | Polar Biome (Violet) |
Crabrawler | Crabominable | Glaseado Mountain, Polar Biome, Coastal Biome |
Cetoddle | Cetitan | West Province (Area Three), Glaseado Mountain |
As a gamer, I’ve noticed an interesting twist in the Pokémon world: using an Ice Stone can alter some Pokémon types. For instance, my Alolan Ninetales, usually an Ice/Fairy type, transforms into an Ice/Fairy when I apply this stone. This change grants it moves that wreak havoc on Dragon-types. However, the perk comes with a price – it now has a 4x vulnerability to Steel-type attacks and a 2x weakness against Poison-type moves.
