Uncovering Your Origins could be one of the most intricate and time-consuming journeys found in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. It involves the collection of numerous Nirnroot plants. This distinctive Alchemy ingredient has been a hallmark of the Elder Scrolls Games since it was introduced in the initial version of Oblivion.
In the updated version of “Oblivion Remastered,” gamers can embark on an exciting quest by collecting specific plants. By completing this quest, they will receive a potent Elixir as a reward. However, before getting started, let’s discuss how players can initiate this quest and follow the correct path to unravel the mystery of the Nirnroot. How does one start the quest and discover the right way?
How To Start Seeking Your Roots In Oblivion Remastered
After completing the tutorial, players can explore Cyrodiil freely. As they get near Lake Rumare, they may notice an increasingly loud and peculiar sound emanating from the lake. If they follow the source of this noise, they’re likely to discover a Nirnroot – a unique plant that has some of the most intriguing qualities found in Tamriel.
After selecting their initial Nirnroot, a new quest titled “Seeking your Roots” will appear on their interface, prompting them to gather information about this specific plant. To do so, players should engage in conversations with relevant Non-Player Characters (NPCs) who specialize in Alchemy and Spellcraft, thereby uncovering the location of someone investigating the Nirnroot and its characteristics.
If players wish to skip the self-investigation process, they can head to Sinderion, located within Skingrad. You’ll find him in the cellar of the West Weald Inn. By presenting him with Nirnroot, he will be more than happy to impart his wisdom on them, but only if they agree to assist him in studying the plant and a secret concoction called the Elixir of Exploration.
To proceed with this task, players must amass ten samples of Nirnroot, found primarily near water sources. Sinderion offers a starting point by mentioning Shadeleaf Copse, a small pond situated close to Skingrad that houses three sprouts of Nirnroot. In the ensuing portion, you’ll discover helpful tips for locating these roots and progressing with the mission.
Where To Get Nirnroot In Oblivion Remastered
303 Nirnroot plants are spread throughout Cyrodiil, and since they do not re-spawn, collecting the 100 needed for Sinderion’s task could seem overwhelming. However, don’t fret! There’s an excellent spot to begin your collection: Lake Rumare.
As an enthusiastic player, I can tell you that the lake encircling the Imperial City is home to almost a third of the plants necessary for completing my quest. Whether it’s near the bridge constructions, Ayleid ruins, or the numerous islands dotting the lake’s surface, you’ll find plenty of Nirnroots thriving. These unique plants are typically spaced apart from each other, but their distinctive humming will serve as a handy guide to help you locate them.
Explore the edges of the lake by walking through its shallow waters and make circular paths to locate them. If you run out of these plants, move your search to rivers, lakes, or any water sources nearby. Nirnroot primarily thrive near bodies of water (or in caves containing water) and are frequently found close to notable landmarks like rocks, ruins, statues, shrines, etc. They rarely grow in the open, except in a few unusual instances.
After collecting ten Nirnroot plants, players can return to Sinderion for a reward known as a “Modest Potion of Discovery.” This potion motivates them to search for twenty more plants. The following stages demand 30 and then 40 plants respectively. To assist players in locating additional plants to finish this mission smoothly, here’s a guide to places where Nirnroot can be found:
This version is a bit more conversational and uses simpler language to make it easier for the reader to understand.
- Blackwood Marsh, located in the southeast part of Cyrodiil, near Leyawiin.
- Shores of the Niben River, near landmarks.
- Leyawiin City, in various locations around the city, and in the houses of notable NPCs.
- Around the Imperial City central Island.
- Anvil, in various locations around the city, and in the houses of notable NPCs.
- Along the Gold Coast (some plants might even grow a little bit further from the shore, near the rocks, and special landmarks).
In the process of gathering samples, players should be aware that Sinderion will require a 24-hour waiting period after each batch before providing them with the Elixir sample and requesting another one. Following the delivery of the fourth and last batch, players will be rewarded with the Greater Elixir of Exploration, which offers these effects: Night Eye, Health boost by 20, Fatigue boost by 20, Blade fortification by 10, Blunt fortification by 10, Destruction fortification by 10, Restoration fortification by 10, Security fortification by 10, and Sneak fortification by 10.
Once Sinderion finishes collecting 100 samples, they will continue buying bundles of 10 Nirnroot from players for 250 Gold each. Just a heads up: there are no awards or trophies associated with discovering all the Nirnroot plants within the game.
