Where to Find Paper Reed in Enshrouded

I’m really excited about the new Wake of the Water update for Enshrouded! They’ve added a ton of cool new stuff to gather, and I’ve been especially interested in Paper Reed. It’s this tall plant that grows in the water, and you need it to make some awesome new gear. What’s neat is, even though it’s common in the new Veilwater Basin area, you don’t have to unlock that zone to find it! I’ve been finding Paper Reed in all sorts of places around the world, which is a huge relief and makes crafting so much easier.

Where to Find Paper Reed in Enshrouded

Paper Reed grows along the banks of ponds, rivers, and small lakes all over Embervale. Thanks to the recent Wake of the Water update, these waterways are now common in most areas, meaning you don’t need to go all the way to the Veilwater Basin to collect this essential resource.

If you’re just starting out, the Springlands – the very first area of the game – is the best place to find Paper Reed. Keep an eye out for tall, slender plants with fuzzy brown tops growing near the water. They look a bit like cattails and are pretty easy to spot once you know what they are.

Two reliable Springlands locations include:

  • East of the Ancient Spire – Springlands: Head past the Flame Shrine and look for a small pond before reaching the Ancient Vault – Hunter. The area is full of Paper Reeds.
  • West of the Ancient Spire – Springlands: Travel beyond Woodgard toward the Ancient Obelisk. Before you reach the Ancient Vault – Alchemist, you’ll find another pond surrounded by Paper Reeds.

You can find these creatures in Revelwood, especially if you travel southeast from the Ancient Spire. Keep an eye out for groups of ponds and check the edges of the water for the reeds where they like to hide.

You can also consistently find Paper Reed near Dragon Dream Lake. Head north from the Ancient Spire in the Nomad Highlands, and look just below the lake. There’s usually a group of five or six plants growing right at the water’s edge.

When you find these plants, just approach and press the button to collect them. They’ll grow back eventually, so remember to check those spots again if you need more in the future.

How to Use Paper Reed in Enshrouded

Paper Reed is a versatile resource in Enshrouded. While it’s primarily used to craft Capybara Bait, it can also replace Plant Fiber in many recipes. This means you can use it to make items like Torches, String, Firefly Lamps, Explosive Powder Balls, and even basic Mattresses. You can even use Paper Reed for decorative purposes, such as creating Underwater Overgrowth for your base.
