Where to Find the King of Romaria in Dragon Quest 3 Remake

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can say that Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions and experiences. One such moment that left me scratching my head was when I found myself crowned as the King or Queen of Romaria.

In the revamped version of Dragon Quest 3, also known as the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, the player encounters a plethora of intriguing scenarios that the protagonist must navigate. One such situation early in the game involves the Hero unwittingly becoming the King or Queen of Romaria. At first, it seems like there’s an important task they need to accomplish as the ruler of an entire kingdom. However, it soon becomes clear that the king is using this as an excuse to shirk responsibilities, similar to skipping school. How to Become King or Queen of Romaria:

In the early stages of the remake of “Dragon Quest 3”, players will find themselves on a mission to save King Romaria’s crown from the infamous outlaw Robbin ‘Ood. This task involves navigating Skyfell Tower, where the crown is hidden, and then bringing it back to King Romaria once collected.

After I’ve returned the crown, an unusual honor awaits me: the King appoints me as the new regent of Romaria. All of a sudden, I find myself in a seat of power, unable to leave the city. As I delve deeper into the mysteries of Romaria, my companions are nowhere to be found. It seems that there’s nothing I can do to change this situation, and the game offers no guidance on how to reverse it.

Where to Find the King of Romaria:

If you chat with characters near the castle, you might learn that the king may have gone to the Monster Arena. To locate the arena, search for the Slime symbol on your map. It’s situated south of the building housing both the Item and Weapon shops. Once inside, you’ll find stairs leading to the Monster Arena located along the southern wall.

At the foot of the stairs, you’ll come across the main entrance to the Monster Arena. If you proceed beyond the Bank and the information desk, you’ll discover another set of stairs that ascend to a seating area within the arena. At the top of those stairs, follow the wall to your left, and you’ll meet an old man standing on a ledge with a view of the arena. This fellow is the King.

How to Stop Being King or Queen of Romaria:

When you approach the King, he will ask you two questions:

  • Question 1: Is the throne to your liking? Answer: No
  • Question 2: You no longer wish to be King/Queen of this fair land? Answer: Yes

After addressing the monarch’s queries, you’ll find yourself effortlessly escorted back to the castle, and from that moment onward, you won’t hold the titles of King or Queen anymore.

In the ongoing Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you have the freedom to revisit King Romaria whenever you please and reclaim your throne as either king or queen. The method for returning the crown remains unchanged. As of now, there isn’t any identified purpose for ruling over Romaria, it’s just an intriguing scenario.
