In the final chapter of “Doom: The Dark Ages”, there’s still a lot of hidden content waiting to be discovered. It’s not just a straight path to the boss fight and then credits; instead, you’ll get more chances to battle through the demonic horde before reaching the end of the storyline. This offers a perfect moment to explore any remaining secrets, especially if you’re missing that final Ruby for an upgrade. However, keep in mind that some secrets in Chapter 22 can only be accessed after finding the secret key first.

Where to Find the Secret Key in Chapter 22

A bit further along this chapter, you’ll come across the secret key once you’ve obtained the blue skull. Keep moving according to the guide until you spot an elevator matching the image provided. Board the elevator and if the waypoint is guiding you forward, turn around instead. You’ll see a trail of gold, with the secret key right nearby.

Where to Use the Secret Key in Chapter 22

As soon as I’ve unlocked the mentioned key, the very first door it opens lies right before me. Interestingly enough, this passage serves as a shortcut, enabling me to swiftly return to my primary goal.

Once you’ve unlocked the gate behind you, move on and make your way down to the courtyard below. Head left towards another door which needs a secret key for access. Inside this chamber, there is gold, a Life Sigil, and a location to find an Ahzrak toy. Don’t overlook grabbing the scattered gold pieces before exiting the room.

Afterward, make your way back to the courtyard, then proceed to the path on your left to discover another gate which needs a special key for access. Inside this more secluded room, you’ll uncover some gold and a ruby.

Head back to the doorway previously accessed using the blue skull, then move north along the corridor until you reach its end. On your left, you’ll discover a gate that can be opened with the secret key and a waiting Wraithstone. In the vicinity, there’s also a narrow hallway, blocked by gates on both sides. Inside this chamber, you’ll come across a hoard of gold.

Lastly, I’ve found another door that requires the hidden key. Below the chamber where I discovered the secret key, there’s a trail hinted in the image above. Near a flickering brazier, you’ll spot a locked gate. Beyond it lies a trove of gold and one of those healing blue orbs that replenish both health and shield.
