Starting StarRupture is pretty forgiving – you don’t need to stress too much about health or survival early on. The game gently introduces you to building a base and completing tasks. But as you explore further and face tougher enemies, you’ll need to use items to help you. That’s where gathering plants comes in handy, and Glowcaps are a key resource. However, Glowcaps are unique – they’re only available for a short time and in a single location. Here’s a guide to finding them in StarRupture.
Where to Find Glowcaps in StarRupture
Glowcaps grow exclusively in underground caves. These caves only become accessible right after a heatwave destroys most life on the planet’s surface.
This is usually because caves hidden underground often have vines growing across their openings, like you can see in the image below.
Caves you’ve already discovered will be shown on your map with either a question mark or a cracked circle icon.
These vines are indestructible with normal weapons. They only vanish briefly after a heatwave, while the planet is still recovering – look for areas where the ground is still gray and covered in ash.
After you’ve entered, you can go down into the underground cave. Use the ‘T’ key to turn on your flashlight and help you see better. While you’re exploring, look for glowing green mushrooms called Glowcaps. You can usually find three or four groups of them in each cave to collect.
What Are Glowcaps Used For in StarRupture?
Glowcaps are used to make resistance serums that shield you from Corrosion, Drain, Infection, and Heat. Each serum recipe needs three Glowcaps. Using a serum gives you +40 Toxicity, but it doubles your resistance to the specific hazard for 10 minutes.
Generally, this provides ample time to explore an area, achieve your goals, and return safely before any negative effects set in—or, in the most serious situations, before it’s too late.
