Although the fundamental characteristics of a Thorn remain consistent across all kinds, each of the three types of Thorns offers distinct abilities to maximize during combat.
Each Thorn can serve multiple purposes, such as pulling opponents or the environment towards you for a closer approach, or yanking enemies off their feet, leaving them vulnerable to easy attacks. Initially, every player is equipped with a binding Thorn; here’s a guide on unlocking the other two types and diversifying your playstyle.
How To Unlock New Thorns In Freedom Wars Remastered
In order to acquire a fresh Thorn in Freedom Wars Remastered, advance the main storyline until you hit CODE level 3. This milestone should come fairly quickly since the first two CODE levels are quite structured and there aren’t many hurdles to overcome when advancing. Once you reach CODE level 3, you’ll be able to access your new Thorns via the Window of Liberty in your cell.
At the window, click on the Claim Entitlements button at the top, then move to the “Thorn Types” menu. Currently, it offers three choices. The initial option is already available, but you can also unlock Healing and Shielding for 100 Entitlement points each.
Once you’ve unlocked the Thorn type, you can easily place it on any setup by navigating to the “Thorn Type” option within your loadout selection. A detailed summary of each Thorn’s attributes, including its functions, will be displayed on the right side of the screen to assist you in selecting the best fit for your gaming style.

The fundamental techniques for seizing and wrestling are consistent across all Thorn types; however, the specialized abilities will vary based on the specific Thorn you’ve chosen to wield.
