Where To Use The Blackened Key In Nioh 3

As a Nioh 3 fan, I’m really excited about the Eternal Rift – it’s a cool spot to team up with other players! Completing the Putrid Paradise Myth quest isn’t just about the story, it actually lets you invite a friend into your Eternal Rift and opens up a new area above the blacksmith. I’ve put together a guide on exactly how to finish the quest and snag that blackened key in Nioh 3.

How To Open The Door Above The Blacksmith In Nioh 3

Okay, so if you’re trying to get into that door above the blacksmith in Nioh 3, you’ll need to finish the ‘Putrid Paradise’ Mythic Tale first. It’s a side quest that takes place in the Heian area, and basically, you find this warrior stuck in a really gross, swampy place and have to help him out.

Once you’re done, head back to the small cave under the blacksmith to find Tatsumaro there.

If you give him some dung balls, he’ll trade you a couple of Smithing texts and the key to the room above the blacksmith. You’ll find two chests up there filled with gear.

Putrid Paradise Myth Guide In Nioh 3

You can begin the ‘Putrid Paradise’ mythic tale in Nioh 3 by starting at the Rajomon: Mibu Avenue Shrine in Hachijo. Head towards the swamp and look for Tatsumaro on a rooftop. He’s bothered by a terrible smell and asks for your help finding a hot spring. Follow the quest marker on your map to guide him there. Once he’s relaxing, Tatsumaro mentions a wonderful bath near his house that he can’t reach because of dangerous yokai. If you agree to help him deal with them, he’ll let you enjoy the bath as a reward.

Once Tatsumaro allies with you, travel to the Lesser Crucible hidden in the swamp and defeat all the enemies there to deactivate it. Behind the Crucible, you’ll find the ruins of a house, only containing a foul-smelling bath. This deeply upsets Tatsumaro, who convinces himself the bath is a paradise before entering it – ultimately leading to his death and the completion of the Putrid Paradise quest.

Where To Find And Use The Blackened Key In Nioh 3

After finishing the quest, travel to the Eternal Rift and find the blacksmith shop. Go to the back corner and go down into the cellar. If this is your first time here, use your Guardian Spirit to break the rock and descend using the roots. Talk to Tatsumaro, who is oddly fond of dung, and give him all the dung balls he asks for. He’ll reward you with Smithing Texts and a blackened key.

As we discussed earlier, the dark key unlocks the gate above the blacksmith’s shop. To get dung balls, you can defeat Wasps and Gaki Chiefs and give them as offerings to Tatsumaro. You can also find dung balls dropped by enemies in the swamp area where you first meet Tatsumaro.
