Where Winds Meet adds mode where you literally play as a goose

To celebrate its one-year anniversary, the game Where Winds Meet has introduced a surprisingly unique feature: players can now control a goose!

On December 17th, NetEase announced a new, temporary game mode for the Chinese version of their game. Called “The Phantom Thief Goose,” this mode lets players control the game’s famous geese instead of traditional characters, focusing on goose-themed challenges rather than combat.

The Phantom Thief Goose is a funny stealth game where you play as a goose and cause trouble. You’ll use typical goose behaviors – honking, pecking – but the real trick is frightening people just by looking at them. It’s surprisingly scary, even more so than Tian Ying!

Where Winds Meet lets you play as a goose

The game starts with a brief story where your character drifts off to sleep after making plans for a party, then wakes up as a goose! As a goose, you’ll need to sneak around and steal things from people in the village, all while dodging patrols and trying not to get caught.

Players outside of certain regions will probably need to wait until next year to try the new goose-themed mode, but the gaming community already knows how dangerous these geese are. Since the game launched worldwide, people have quickly found out that the geese in Where Winds Meet aren’t just harmless birds – they’re more like small, wandering bosses that can really cause trouble.

It feels right to let players team up for the game’s first anniversary, considering how much trouble they’ve caused! The anniversary event has a goose theme and comes after a big update that introduced a vehicle-building system similar to what’s in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – this feature will be available worldwide soon.
