As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the lineup of PS5 exclusives for 2025 is shaping up to be a dream come true. With a mix of sequels, new IPs, and even a potential online adventure, it’s an exciting time to be a PlayStation fan.
Speculations are still buzzing around an upcoming PlayStation event, yet without any definitive announcement, let’s imagine which exclusive PlayStation 5 games could potentially launch in the year 2025.
It appears that next year is shaping up to be quite busy compared to the more subdued 2024, as it seems to be overflowing with AAA titles developed in-house!
Just a quick heads-up, I want to make it clear that while our next piece will delve into the world of Xbox, this discussion is purely speculative. We’re only guessing about potential releases for 2025.
To wrap things up, this collection primarily features games that can be played exclusively on the PS5 and PC, so you won’t find them anywhere else.
PS5 exclusives for 2025
Ghost of Yotei
Information regarding the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima remains somewhat limited, but an enthralling trailer for the game was unveiled earlier this year. Most notably, it’s one of the few first-party games for PlayStation that has a release window of 2025. Given PlayStation’s history of rescheduling dates, it appears possible that the second installment in the “Ghost of” series might be launched during June.
In our upcoming journey, you’ll switch roles from Jin Sakai to a character named Atsu. This exciting story unfolds in the year 1603, a leap of 329 years beyond the events of the initial game, offering us a chance for a diverse and refreshing gaming experience.
In this era, Japan experienced significant cultural impact from European nations, resulting in a mutual sharing of technology. This interaction saw Japanese soldiers adopting firearms for the very first time, enriching Atsu’s tales with new and intriguing elements.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
In a new twist, Death Stranding 2: By the Shore made its debut with an intriguing first trailer, leaving fans puzzled about the actual events unfolding, much like Hideo Kojima’s signature style. Subsequent trailers have maintained this enigma, keeping viewers in suspense as they speculate about the next chapter in the Death Stranding saga.
Instead of Ghost of Yotei, Death Stranding 2 appears to be a follow-up directly from the original game. However, the intrigue lies in how Kojima plans to keep us guessing and what innovative gameplay mechanics he’ll introduce this time around.
Ever since the initial release in November 2019, it’s most likely that we’ll see the sequel come out during the latter part of 2025. This is particularly true if “Ghost of Yotei” occupies the first half of that year.
Horizon Online
According to a recent job listing, Horizon Online is expected to arrive sometime next year.
Is it possible that Guerrilla Games may be creating a new game style akin to Monster Hunter, or could they be taking a different approach? Will the game feature an expansive open world, or will players move through a hub system instead? Might there be player-versus-player (PvP) action, and if so, how would it function? Additionally, what method might be used for progression within the game? At this point, our knowledge is limited to a 12-minute video from the alpha stage of development. Since significant changes can occur after leaks, it’s difficult to predict exactly what the final product will offer.
It seems likely that with Monster Hunter Wilds releasing towards the end of February, Sony may be planning to debut Horizon Online in the latter part of the year.
Lost Soul Aside
Absolutely,
Nevertheless, there’s an understandable cause behind the delay. Originally, Yang Bing was in charge of the project, but its potential attracted PlayStation, leading them to support the game development.
So impressed, they decided to assume the position as publishers. The game, with its strong video presentation at ChinaJoy 2024, hinted that everything might be falling into place for a 2025 launch.
Are you excited about the PS5 exclusives scheduled for 2025 release? It’s important to note that additional games may be released throughout the year, though many are likely smaller-scale productions. One such example is AI-Limit, a game developed under the PlayStation China Hero Project. However, it’s possible that Sony has a few surprises in store!
There’s talk that Marathon could appear next year as well, but considering where the project stands now, I find it extremely doubtful. This is particularly true given the unsuccessful debut of Concord, and it seems PlayStation might have some serious worries about their lineup of live-service games. They may be rethinking their approach. However, if Bungie is in a hurry to release the game quickly, there could be potential issues with that plan too.
As a fervent gaming enthusiast, it seems that some of the games I’m eagerly waiting for, such as the temporary exclusive KOTOR Remake, the highly anticipated Phantom Blade 0, and Marvel’s Wolverine, might not surface until 2026.
