Once you’ve created your characters and finished the brief train tutorial in Paralives, you’ll need to pick a Storyteller. These Storytellers essentially act as difficulty settings, changing how challenging the game is.
What Are Storytellers In Paralives?
In Paralives, you can choose from three Storytellers to shape your game: Ricardo Castello III, Maxence, and Stella (who is a dog!). Each Storyteller has unique settings that affect things like the chances of pregnancy, how quickly Sims age, and how much money your household starts with. They also give you Story Cards every night, which offer helpful bonuses.
Storytellers lets you adjust things like how quickly time passes and the chances of getting pregnant, along with other options.
More significantly, Storytellers determine the difficulties Paras encounter daily. A demanding Storyteller, for instance, might lead to more kitchen fires, potentially causing character deaths or requiring expensive appliance replacements.

Can You Change Storyteller In Paralives?
You can change who’s running the game – the Storyteller – whenever you want during play. This lets players adjust the difficulty up or down as they go, figuring out what’s most fun for the group.
You can access the Storyteller menu by pressing the ESC key to open the pause menu, then clicking the Storyteller button. You’re welcome to open this menu whenever you like during your game, and don’t forget to check out the custom settings!
Which Storyteller Should You Choose In Paralives?
There’s no single “best” Storyteller to choose in Paralives, and since you can change them whenever you like, don’t stress over making the perfect decision.
If you want a well-rounded experience with manageable challenges, especially since the game is still being developed, Maxence is the safer choice. But if you enjoy watching characters face realistic life events – like getting fired and searching for work – Ricardo will offer a more dramatic and engaging playthrough.
I was already dealing with a lot – broken appliances and plumbing issues – when things got even worse. Just days after handling one fire, I had two more fires happen on the same day, and it really threw Ricardo off balance.
If you’d prefer a relaxed experience without any difficulties, Stella is the perfect choice for a smooth and easy playthrough.
