Highlights
- AEW’s Fight Forever seems likely to end season passes after Jay White DLC.
- Fight Forever’s DLC bundle suggests it won’t add further DLC for logistical reasons.
- Lack of momentum could lead AEW to cease season pass updates for Fight Forever.
As a long-time wrestling fan who has seen the industry evolve over the years, I must admit that my excitement for AEW Fight Forever has been somewhat waning. The recent news about the Jay White DLC and the subsequent DLC bundle has me concerned that we might be nearing the end of the road for this game’s updates.
The highly anticipated video game, AEW Fight Forever, could undergo a significant shift following the release of the Jay White DLC, as season passes might not continue beyond this point. Tony Khan’s establishment of AEW as a major wrestling brand alongside WWE has brought about a transformation in the industry. Since 2001, when WCW was active, AEW is the first significant second promotion to emerge at its level.
In the world of wrestling, video games serve as a significant supplementary form of entertainment. Companies like WCW and WWE have produced numerous games during their tenures, and now AEW has also joined in with ‘AEW Fight Forever’. However, the reception for ‘AEW Fight Forever’ was initially mixed and it hasn’t been as successful as anticipated, leading to speculation that AEW may discontinue season passes for this game due to its slow progress and recent indications.
What AEW Fight Forever Wanted From DLC Content
Video game season passes play a significant role in today’s gaming world, particularly in competitive video games. Non-sports titles such as Fortnite and Fall Guys have mastered this concept by offering cosmetics and other enjoyable rewards, enhancing the user experience. Similarly, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has attempted to mimic the sports model used by organizations like WWE and other sports leagues by releasing new downloadable content during regular updates.
As an avid gamer and fan, I’ve been thrilled with how Fight Forever has endeavored to keep things exciting by introducing season passes. These passes bring fresh talent to the game, such as Claudio Castagnoli, The Acclaimed, Keith Lee, and Toni Storm, among others. Each pass offers a unique blend of new wrestlers, arenas, mini-games, and cosmetic elements to enhance the gaming experience. It’s been a fantastic journey discovering these new additions with each passing season!
DLC Wrestler | Season Released |
Keith Lee | Season 1 |
The Bunny | Season 1 |
FTR tag team | Season 1 |
Hook & Danhausen team | Season 1 |
Toni Storm | Season 2 |
The Acclaimed tag team | Season 2 |
Jamie Hayter | Season 3 |
Swerve Strickland | Season 3 |
Claudio Castagnoli | Season 3 |
Samoa Joe | Season 4 |
Adam Copeland | Season 4 |
Jay White | Season 4 |
Despite the latest addition of Jay White in Season 4, fans of the game might find this to be the conclusion of the project, as AEW seems to have introduced some notable talents like Jay White, Samoa Joe, and Adam “Edge” Copeland who may mark the final chapter. Those anticipating additional roster members or new features in a potential Season 5 could face a significant letdown.
Why DLC & Season Passes May Be Ending For AEW Fight Forever
Lack Of Momentum For AEW Fight Forever’s DLC May Cause Top Stars To Never Join Roster
In the latest development, Jay White signing up for season four of “AEW Fight Forever” brought about additional exciting news. AEW packaged all season passes and all content related to the initial four seasons into a single offer, allowing fans to access all game content at once. This type of packaging often implies that the developer will not be releasing further content, potentially suggesting that Yuke’s may cease producing new “AEW Fight Forever” season passes every few months.
By promoting the all-inclusive bundle, it gives the impression that fans have access to everything, since no further passes are planned. If AEW were to release their entire DLC collection now, it would create confusion if more packs were later released without updating the bundle. It’s highly improbable that the regular season pass releases will continue as the bundle could have just as easily been delayed for another group of major stars.
As a long-time fan of professional wrestling, I must say that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has truly outdone themselves this year by signing major free agents like Mercedes Mone (formerly known as Sasha Banks from WWE), Will Ospreay, and Kazuchika Okada. These talented individuals bring an incredible wealth of experience and skill to the ring, and I am thrilled to see them join AEW’s roster.
The game AEW Fight Forever faced several challenges, such as intensifying the Stadium Stampede battle royal similar to Fortnite or developing mini-games. However, these efforts didn’t significantly boost the game’s success. Furthermore, high-profile talents like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes have departed from the video game roster, causing a wave of unfavorable sentiment. Regrettably, wrestling enthusiasts might need to acknowledge that the last season’s pass and new bundle pack may have marked the end of all additional content for AEW Fight Forever.
