Why Miles Morales Deserves His Own Spot on the Marvel Rivals Roster

Why Miles Morales Deserves His Own Spot on the Marvel Rivals Roster

As a lifelong Marvel fan and someone who has watched Miles Morales grow from a humble Ultimate Universe character to a mainstay of the Marvel universe, I firmly believe that Miles deserves his own spot on the roster of Marvel Rivals.

Despite being in its development phase, the pace at which Marvel Rivals is progressing has been nothing short of swift, with significant updates being announced frequently. With a planned release date in December this year, there’s been a lot of attention focused on new characters. The current official roster is impressive, and even the rumored leaked roster seems more extensive. However, both lists appear to be missing a key character that could elevate Marvel Rivals to greater heights.

As a gaming enthusiast diving deep into hero shooters like Marvel Rivals, I can’t help but admire the allure of the diverse alternate skins for each character. The vast Marvel Universe is brimming with potential characters who could grace our screens as alternate skins for existing heroes. However, let me clarify something about Miles Morales – he doesn’t fit into that category. He’s got a unique story and impact all on his own.

Miles Morales Could Inspire a Unique Moveset in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals Could Turn Some Characters into Costumes

It’s not difficult to envision that the game Marvel Rivals might transform certain characters into various costumes to expand its character selection. Some individuals might argue that a few characters aren’t unique enough to warrant individual roster spots. However, Miles Morales manages to bypass both primary hurdles that could potentially impede other characters. Given the vast array of alternate versions he has, it’s no surprise that Spider-Man is often discussed in this context. Yet, Miles Morales stands out as a character who effectively overcomes the challenges that might hinder others.

One excellent character that Marvel Rivals might consider as a potential skin is the Red Hulk. The Red Hulk possesses abilities comparable to his green counterpart, and his importance doesn’t warrant a permanent spot on the roster. With Red Hulk set to appear in “Captain America: Brave New World” next year, this timing seems ideal for introducing him as a skin. Interestingly, this scenario highlights why Miles Morales is an exception to this rule.

Miles Morales Couldn’t Be More Different from Peter Parker

It’s possible to consider Miles Morales as being within the Spider-Man category in Marvel Rivals, given that he shares many similarities with Peter Parker beyond just their names. Both characters can climb walls, navigate New York City by swinging, and demonstrate responsibility in their use of powers. However, Miles also possesses unique abilities that could be utilized to create a distinct character design.

Through the creations of Insomniac games and the Spider-Verse movies, it’s widely recognized that Miles Morales possesses two unique abilities beyond the typical Spider-Man skillset. He is able to become invisible by blending seamlessly with his surroundings, and he can emit electricity in what is known as a Venom Strike. These distinctive powers set Miles apart significantly from Peter Parker’s standard capabilities, and they only scratch the surface of his potential.

In recent years, Miles Morales has significantly enhanced his electrical powers. Notably, Miles has demonstrated the skill to create bio-electric constructs, one of which is a sword called the Venom Saber. Compared to Peter Parker, Miles Morales’ version of Spider-Man consistently exhibits extraordinary strength, and he continues to push these limits. Earlier this year, Miles underwent a transformation reminiscent of a Super Saiyan, and in late October, he will be equipped with a Vibranium Spider-Man suit.

Marvel Rivals Can’t Afford to Pass Up Miles Morales

Miles Morales Has Surpassed His Humble Beginnings

Due to his continuously growing array of special abilities, Miles Morales stands out distinctly, making it feasible for the creators of Marvel Rivals to design a unique moveset for him. However, this explains why Miles could be made playable, not necessarily why he should. Miles Morales isn’t just unique – he is significant.

In 2011, I found myself making an entrance as part of Marvel’s Ultimate imprint, Miles Morales. Initially, I was envisioned as Peter Parker’s successor in the Ultimate Universe, but I’ve grown into something far greater since then. Now, I’m not just a part of Marvel’s main timeline, but I stand as one of Marvel’s most significant characters in today’s era, a testament to the power of diversity and change within the Marvel Universe.

Miles Morales Means the World to Many Marvel Fans

Peter Parker initially established the core concepts for Spider-Man, but Miles Morales has consistently expanded on these principles in a striking manner. The appeal of Spider-Man lies in the idea that anyone could be the person behind the mask, and Miles demonstrates that this concept transcends straight white men. By embodying Spider-Man, Miles Morales allows more children worldwide to identify with the character, which has contributed significantly to his enduring popularity among Marvel fans in recent times.

In the world of movies, Miles Morales is the main character in a franchise, with the “Spider-Verse” films being where most people encounter him. Additionally, Miles appears together with Peter in “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”. These adaptations have demonstrated that Miles’ appeal goes beyond his symbolic significance. Given that he can headline and share the lead in big productions, it seems logical for him to join forces with Peter in “Marvel Rivals”.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to know that I won’t be playing alone in Marvel Rivals, since they’ve included Peni Parker as a playable character. You might recognize her as another spin on Spider-Man, one that gained quite the following after Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This suggests that the game isn’t shy about delving deeper into Spidey’s lore, but Miles Morales is way more than just a different suit. He possesses powers all his own and carries an importance uniquely his, which is why he deserves a place on the Marvel Rivals roster.
