Why Palworld’s Next Big Update Needs to Double Down on Pal Weapons

Why Palworld's Next Big Update Needs to Double Down on Pal Weapons

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that Palworld has been a breath of fresh air amidst the sea of repetitive titles flooding the market. The Sakurajima update was undoubtedly a step in the right direction, but it seemed to have missed an opportunity to further flesh out one of its most unique aspects – Pal weapons.

In June, the game Palworld experienced one of its largest updates to date with the addition of Sakurajima, a new biome and 24 new Pals. This popular title has been one of the year’s top games, and the Sakurajima update is a positive indication of what lies ahead for the game as it continues to develop. Although Palworld is currently in early access, it holds great potential to refinexpand upon its most distinctive features and refinex2 enhancing its most distinctive ideas before its official release

The open-world title offers a fun blend of creature collection and survival gameplay in one experience. Palworld‘s impressive success this year made it a surprise hit, but the game has also faced criticism for being an alleged Pokemon clone. Despite similar art styles, Palworld and Pokemon don’t really share many similarities, and a difference is found in one of Palworld‘s biggest draws: weapons. When the game was first announced, Palworld was being touted as “Pokemon with guns.” The various weapons in Palworld that players and Pals can use help it stand out, but Sakurajima, unfortunately, dropped the ball in bringing this concept further with Pals.

Palworld’s Sakurajima Update Missed Out on Adding New Pal Weapons

Pal Weapons Got No Love in Palworld’s Latest Update

In the latest update for Palworld, Sakurajima has introduced an array of fresh elements. Alongside the introduction of new biomes and creatures known as Pals, new buildings, weapons for players, and a secret NPC character have been unexpectedly spiced upgraded the gameplayers. However, surprisingly, there’s update also included seven new player weapons. However, unfortunately, no changes were made to Pal weapons, which is an unexpected shift in the game that seems like a potential oversight

Following the latest Sakurajima update, our game now boasts a whopping 163 playable characters, or Pals. Among them, just a dozen can be transformed into weapons for us players to yield. For instance, the Foxpark Harness turns me into a flamethrower, and who could forget Tanzee’s Assault Rifle that transforms this cute Pal into a gun-toting character? These weaponized Pals are some of the coolest aspects of Palworld. It’s quite intriguing that despite being a significant update, Sakurajima didn’s tokeptoo163, unfortunately overlooked homebase campers like me who enjoy experimenting with these unique characters. However, it’s disappointing that the introduction of 24 new Pals didn’t seem to spark any innovation in terms of Pal weapons

Palworld
‘s concurrent players on Steam peaked at a max player count of 2,101,867.

Moving forward, there are several Palworld features that need to be at the forefront of the game at full launch, and Pal weapons feel like they are being left behind. Of course, this may not be the case for long. There is currently no official release date for Palworld to leave early access, but the game’s full launch could be the perfect moment to reveal more Pal weapons.

Palworld’s Full Launch Will Hopefully Give Pal Weapons the Attention They Deserve

Until an official launch is announced, Palworld‘s time in early access gives its developers the opportunity to work on improvements ahead of its 1.0 release. Since Pal weapons are such a unique concept, it doesn’t make sense for Pocketpair to set them aside, so there is the real possibility that the developers are working to make sure more Pal weapons are ready in time for the game’s full launch. Thinking of special ways that Pals can be repurposed as weapons can’t be an easy task, so it would be understandable for that to be a feature saved for post-early access.

As the year continues, it will be exciting to see what is next for Palworld. There is no telling how long Palworld could be in early access, but as long as it means Pal weapons get the love they deserve, then it is well worth the wait.
