In discussing Palworld and Pokemon, there are numerous similarities that can be drawn. One of the most noticeable is that their creatures possess typings which play a crucial role in battles. The typings in both games have a list of almost identical elements, but each has its own unique strengths and weaknesses depending on the game. In terms of balance, one typing from Pocketpair’s creation appears to be at a disadvantage when compared to Pokemon’s Normal types, as they essentially serve the same purpose. However, in Palworld, the neutral element Pals tend to have more drawbacks than benefits, making them an overlooked or disregarded choice.
After its launch on January 19, 2024, the game “Palworld” has demonstrated that each of its elements exhibits strengths and weaknesses against others, except for fire, which is effective against two types. However, the Neutral typing does not benefit from any advantages over the other types and, regrettably, is susceptible to Dark types. This suggests that it could be one of the weakest elements in the game due to having very few positive aspects. This weakness becomes more apparent when contrasted with “Pokemon”‘s Normal types, as even they possess unique traits and purposes that make them a valuable choice for play.
Why Palworld’s Neutral Element Is Lacking When Compared to Pokemon’s Normal Types
Examining Palworld’s element chart reveals why many gamers view Neutral Pals as an unpopular choice for combat. Compared to Pokemon’s Normal types, there are several aspects that seem less appealing right away.
- While Pokemon‘s Normal types aren’t strong against a particular type either, they are at least immune to attacks of one other typing, something Neutral Pals cannot claim.
- Neutral Pals have to rely on having access to powerful and diverse moves to be viable, while Normal-type Pokemon can pose a threat through their presence and even by using simple attacks.
- Some of the weaker Normal-type Pokemon can evolve to gain a second typing and help them stand against strong competition, while Neutral Pals have no hope of gaining a similar advantage during their growth.
In Palworld, it’s widely believed that the most challenging Pals fall under the Neutral category, and it’s tough to dispute this notion. If the Neutral element is to compete with Pokemon’s Normal types in terms of viability, it would require significant adjustments. Fingers crossed, Pocketpair offers these changes.
How Pocketpair Can Change Neutral Pals To Make Them More Viable as Combat Partners
In the world of Palworld, it seems Neutral Pals aren’t holding the best cards when it comes to elemental advantages. However, just like Normal Pokémon types, some Neutral Pals could benefit from a secondary typing, turning disadvantages into advantages in specific matchups. Unfortunately, this is a feature that Neutral Pals currently lack, and it’s keeping them from truly shining as party members instead of just being base workers.
If they were given the ability to have a secondary type, it could shake up the combat meta, making Neutral Pals more attractive choices. This change might even encourage players to keep coming back, eager to see how the newfound strength of these Pals could reshape the gameplay dynamics.
With some flexibility in Pocketpair’s strategy for the game Palworld, there’s a possibility that one of their intended improvements could involve a revamp of certain creature types, or Pals, and ideally, this would include a revision of the Neutral element. The Neutral element seems to be in desperate need of updates if it aims to compete with or surpass Pokemon’s Normal types, but we’ll have to wait and see whether these improvements will materialize.
